Yes if you play the game for free you accumulate game points ip which is different from gold which you buy. Game points can be used to purchase champions and runes. Gold can be used to purchase champions/skins/boosts(out of game boosts)

Every week 10 champions are made available to play which rotate each week. As you get to like a champion you may want to buy it and you can do that with in game cash or gold. When you get to level 20 you will want to buy tier 3 runes (the only time worth buying runes imho) these will wipe your in game gold out so it's worth saving as they do add a lot of extra benefit to you i.e you may want to use in game money to purchase champions but do it sparingly as those tier 3 runes are worth the wait.

At the moment just dive in and play and it will all become clear :)

is it just me or are the lol-europe servers uber laggy ever since riot said they were taking over? ingame is fine but the login server and everything that goes with it just seems utter crap

I think that is part of the reason riot are taking it back over. Europe is a sizeable proportion of Riots customer base and Goa ultimately isn't looking after it
 
Had 4 games in a row where "someone has left during picking", and then waited 5 mins in the queue just for LoL client to hang, now I can't login, it just waits at the login screen with "Logging in...".
Been 30 mins trying to get a game :rolleyes:
 
Forums are very very slow. Just hope this is indicative they are resetting things in the background ready for my play time later :)

goa have never done a good job of running any game servers yet they are the bane of the mmo world because they are known for beeing absolute crap
 
getting ridiculous now i bet goa dont have anyone monitoring the servers on a weekend or some BS! i only started on the eu servers because of this thread :@
 
Dunno how its been on the EU client, but on the US one it has been down each night for the last 4 days for hours at a time. Someone shown a Google activity graph, ever since HoN went pay to play there's been a influx to LoL. I was more surprised that both games had a similar player account activity and with LoL even peaking more than HoN at times, lemme find it.

Very tempted to use the Tower one and cool down one, but it almost seems like cheat advantage worthy, sure these are safe to use?


Edit: just noticed that search requests not actually numbers, but does give a indication of how LoL has been looked up lately.
