---Left 4 Dead 2 Thread---

Maybe Valve will allow users to upgrade to L4DII. Nothing is known at this point in time about how it will work, Valve seems very good at looking after customers (free DLC for L4D is a good indication of this) and I am sure they will not burn the end consumer.

They seem a lot more focused on the consumer than almost any other developer.

What free DLC? The two VS maps that should have beenready on release, and one new tiny map?

That's not really 'DLC' as it was promised.

There were no new wepons, SI, or campaigns as promised by Gabe. It was all a load of balls. I also hate the fact it is called DLC - it's a friggin patch... the same thing they've been doing with CS and TF2 for years now. Free maps, bug fixes, improved mechanics, unlocks, etc etc.

The original took nearly three years to make and lacked content and has many broken game mechanics. The sequel took less than a year to make - are you kidding me? The past year is when the L4D team should have been improving the current game. It really does highlight why there has been only one major update since release (that added virtually zero in new content). It's shocking and I'm not suprised that players are angry.

CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

to express my excitement over l4d2, tonight in game i will yell "chainsaw" upon request over comms. i'll then make a chainsaw-esque noise. this is how much this is exciting to me

Aww me and tranquil rage dont get out the office till 9:30 ish...better save some for us. heh someone make it into a bind ;)

I'm confused why people are so sure L4D will no longer recieve updates.

Is there any cold, hard facts to suggest that Valve will completely abandon it?

i recon they thought they were gonna have to keep releasing updates and DLC in order for sales to increase, but it became apparent that the game was selling itself as is and there was no need to do so to increase sales. They have set the stall high with the TF2 updates but thats the exception to the rule remember - most games recieve very little DLC or updates of any kind.

Lets not forget Valve are pioneers at the moment in the games industry - they seem to be great at listening to customers and have a proven track record of creating innovative, high quality games that offer fantastic value for money...

it probably means that L4D will be abandoned now - no more major tweaks, no more DLC

You don't know this.

Looks good but I can't help but be annoyed that its coming out so early, paid £32 for l4d when it came out only 8 months ago.

I think the majority of people complaining are those who have never really played L4D regularly. I've never understood people complaining about £20 or £30 either.

lets face it

the majority of people on my friends list play left for dead regularly

that is around 50+ OcUK forum members all logging hundereds of hours gameplay

so i feel i got my £20 worth out of l4d1

I've played L4D on average probably 3 hours a day for 5 months. Only in the last month have I started to get a little bored of it (strangely soon after Survivor released) but I've still played approx 450 hours. Only reason I have to be annoyed about L4D2 is that it's going to take away even more of my time.

Chainsaws? more gorier limbs and heads blown off animations? FRYING PANS? Profit????

November could not come sooner :D

Agreed.

yeah this sounds ***** great, roll on novembro

Agreed.

I read somewhere talk of the 4 original survivor may meet up with the 4 new survivors, if this comes around how would you guys feel if as part of the L4D2 their was an update to L4D that allowed you to play these maps but you would miss out on the new weapons and mismemberment etc but at least you would get some new maps and possibly a new game mode.

tbh honest l4d is a few hrs of fun at best any more its boring.

to say 2 is on its way before anything of any substance has been done is a joke.

Yeah I was very disappointed in it, try and force myself to play it every now and again to get my money's worth but rarely do, it's so repetitive.

You and Dg are in the minority here, quite clearly. The OcUK Left4Dead group and servers are still very busy.

You don't know this.

No way... Really???

That's why I wrote "probably" - I gave an opinion.

I think the majority of people complaining are those who have never really played L4D regularly.

Actually, I've clocked over 200 hours... But what about those who haven't been able to play that long? LIke, oh I don't know, the thousands of people who bought the GOTY edition a few short weeks ago...

I've never understood people complaining about £20 or £30 either.

While I'm happy that money is no issue for you, I'd like to point out that some of us are not complaining about the money, but the principle that much was promised for L4D, and it has still not been delivered. With the sequel coming, it is less likely that it will.

That is not to say it's impossible that L4D will receive regular updates - as you eloquently claimed, I don't know this. And if it is indeed updated, I'll be as happy as anyone - I lurvvve L4D. But as so many seem all too happy to point out in this thread, Valve are not a charity, they are a business. So I won't hold my breath.

wonder if they will turn the boomer in to a mardi gra style boomer (fat chick with boobs down to her knees with loads of beads round her neck) and yes i did have a nightmare about that last night but she wasnt a zombie :(

Yer its one of the new special infected that has one massive arm it swings and pushes you to the ground (doesnt kill you like a tank mind)

Kinda funny how it has one huge arm and then a tiny little one :p

i want to see some better invironments, flowing waterfalls and being part of the map where you have to swim into an underground cave with other infected swimming after you

just sounds good and fresh :)

Looks like Valve are milking the cash cow.. The video I've seen looked more like TF2, really don't think that style will suit L4D! They should really be patching L4D to bring out some new maps etc.. L4D got boring very quickly. Once you've played each map a few times there is nothing new..

Kind of what I thought actually (re the TF2 thing only).

Which is why they need a random map generating AI in games like these.
