Legend of Zelda. How are people finding it?

I got my wii on the 21st december and ive still yet to play zelda even though i bought it at the same time as i got the wii. Its not even been taken out of its seal yet.

I got Zelda back in December too and STILL yet to find a wii on the highstreet.

Dunno, i just picked up zelda because the store i bought it at was doing the wii with any 2 games, already had cod 3 on the 360 and i was interested in red steel as the other so i just picked up zelda (no other games in the store at that time). Had a gamecube bundled with windwaker, played windwaker for about an hour before getting cheesed off with it and never touched it again. Rpg's generally just bore me. :(
Its not strictly an RPG. ;)
And Zelda games are usually quite slow starters.
Once you get a good way in, like past the first temple, when the story starts to open up, then you'll be hooked. Guaranteed.
Luckly, TP doesnt take long to get going. :)

I'm 21 hours in now and just finished the Water dungeon. I'm having trouble getting into this Zelda. For me the 3D transform hasn't done it many favours and I am most looking forward to Phantom Hourglass on the DS.

I'm going to stick with it and hope my current pessemism is down to not having enough spare time to play it.

It's been '3D' for a while now!

I'm about 10h and 2 dungeons into the GC version and I am very impressed so far. I don't usually go for RPG/adventure games of this type and it's the first Zelda game I have played properly but I'd definitely recommend it. It makes Gears of War seem extremely short (finished in 10h on hardcore).

On a different subject, when do you get the fishing mini-game at the lake?

i soooo want this, but i cant find the gc version anywhere! most places in town dont even have gamecube sections anymore. the only place i can find it is on auction for daft prices... guess im gonna have to wait till i get the wii :(

If you look around one of the highstreet gaming shops has 6 in stock online atm so you may still be able to grab a copy. It is definitely a limited release on GC though, I mean it only came out 4 weeks ago and already it is almost impossible to buy new.

This is my first Zelda game, it's even my first Nintendo console if you don't cound the original gameboy and I'm loving it on the Wii. I'm about 23hrs into it, I've just got into the temple in the desert. The game really seems to be opening up a lot now. I just wish I had managed to find the place selling a larger purse, I tried all over the town but couldn't find it and the silly 300 piece one just fills up far too quickly.

I'd go out and buy the GC Zelda's but I'm in the US at the moment and don't think US gamecube games would work on a UK Wii. It would be nice if they did as I could get the last Zelda game for about £8, plus there's the two sets of the old old games for about $45 second hand, even though they say not for resale on the boxes

39 hours in and have just completed the game, now to start collecting everything and do all the mini games and side quests.

**********SPOILER************

You have to go to Agathas castle and trade a bug you have found for the 600 rupee purse.

... Doesn't mean everyone has played it in 3D before does it?

EDIT: Played it for 5 hours yesterday and started to get back into it. Maybe the water Temple and Zora bit was just plainly appauling, but I played some of the great mini-games and side-quests which imo set Zelda apart from the competition and loved every second.

Just started on the desert temple bit myself. Got 2 torches lit but then I got stuck so will get back to it with a fresh mind tomorrow :)

Thanks, that will come in handy. It would be nice to be able to buy some empty jars too. I'll go for ages not needing to use the lantern so I empty a jar of oil to use it for something else. Then all of as sudden I have to use the lantern for ages and have no spare oil  I almost got stuck in one of the non story areas, thank goodness the dog sense has some kind of vision in the pitch black.

I just finished the desert castle bit. I think I'll spend some time fishing and doing little side quests now. I need to find that extra jar and get the bigger purse.

The big boss I just defeated was probably one of the most fun, you could make a good mini game out of the first bit of fighting him.

at the fishing place, near some sign warning about not littering, you have to fish for it
Is it in the main 'pond' or the tiny bit behind that bridge?

Ive done the Cave Of Ordeals. I'd previously done to level40, then quit as i wanted to do a bit more of the story. Did it fully last night, and it wasnt that hard. The two hardest bits were the 4 armoured lizards/the poe(a right pain in the rear, cos the lizards are quite fast, and its hard to get a shot in, especially if the Poes trying to hit you as well. :p.) and the last ice one, with 2 of those ice breathing things, and loads of ice keese & ice men.
The three darknuts wernt that hard suprisingly, i managed to get them into a position that allowed me to get a single strike in on one of them every now and then. So it was long and drawn out, and required a lot of dodging, but i beat them in the end! :D

I have been trying to get a GC version but as previously said, they are going for about £60 odd, unless you're lucky like the guy about to get it for as low as £30 odd.

My GF is moving in on the 1st April and she is getting a Wii, so might just wait until then to play it :)

Wowsers, I didn't realise that it was selling on auction sites for as much as that.

Don't want to rub it in but I feel really lucky that I picked my GC Zelda up for £29.99 for a "second-hand" copy. It didn't feel second hand seeing as it was only released the day before. :D

That is a bargain mate. I got a GC the other day on auction for £41 delivered with 2 games, so for Zelda to cost more than that at auction is a joke.

As I said I might try and track it down, if not wait for GF to get a Wii and play it on that :)

Had Zelda Twighlight Princess waiting for me when I got home today - £32.49 BNIB including delivery from Hartford, CT. Sweet! :) (less than a week's delivery time as well!).

Sticking it on in a mo for some real videogame fun (gets me away from all this "My console's bigger than yours" BS that's going around at the moment!
