Shouldn't be stupid enough to be posting in this thread, but iv'e made reference to it before, so i'll throw shearer back in to the mix.
Just my personal opinion having seen him play many times in the flesh and more so on the screen.
The pin up guy of a generation in england, loved by nearly all, media, fans, the goals, bottle and heart player.
The world class he was often lauded as? for me not a touch on the truer class of the bergkamps, batistuta's, christian vieri 's of the game in the simular style of goal getting players.
Those guys could produce the magic against the very best when the chips were down, shearer nearly allways got snuffed out by the great defenders of the time.
Thats just my opinion, i could just have listed all the good things he did and painted a very different view. Good, maybe great... just not for me.
