I think there is a good chance Touch ID will be on next years flagship. Unfortunately this years is using an inferior samsung oled (which was not good enough quality for Touch ID).

Next years will (if the new plant is finished in time) have a superior LG oled panel and hopefully bring back Touch ID. Apple have invested 2.7 billion into the new lg plant.

Until that happens I'll be sticking with my 7+.

Touch ID is a massive deal breaker for me.
Ugh I hope you're wrong, but I suspect this is going to be the case. Just can't envision how FaceID is better in every way than TouchID.

Well as apple have invested 2.7 billion with LG on a new oled plant. It's pretty obvious they will be LG oled next and will have Touch ID.

This years phone seems like a rushed hash job just to make a 10 year anniversary deadline.

I'll wait another year for the 'proper' LG oled iPhone.
I don’t want LG’s phone OLED’s anywhere near my iPhone until they fix this crap.

There is a reason Apple are investing so much and not using LG this year.

They aren’t good enough.

I think the only reason they get rid of TouchID is because FaceID is so much better - I wouldn't be surprised if after a few months we'll be saying we don't miss TouchID.

Is it better, or would having both be better? After all, what happens if you don't want your phone unlocked, say in front of someone specific, with finger print readers than is an option, with facial recognition if you look at your phone, oops.. it's now unlocked.

You'll have to tap the screen like you tap the home button now, so I don't really see the difference.

All I'm saying is, it would be very unlike Apple to remove such a great feature, if they hadn't sorted out an even better solution.

Roll on tomorrow! :D

Re-read what I wrote, I said don't want it unlocked.

If you just want the lock screen up, there is the "Rise to wake" feature where you literally just pick your phone up.

If you want to unlock you tap the screen.

I still don't see the difference to how it works now

I really won't mind Face ID if its done well, like I pick up my phone an its done. A deal breaker will be if I see my face when I do it, last thing I need is me double chinned looking at my phone first thing in the morning :D

I haven't missed the jack one bit, my mrs didn't even know her 7+ didn't have one till I mentioned it to her.

A few years from now I doubt many phones will have the jack.

Well the question was "Are Bluetooth headphones actually a better solution"

If you read that response to said question as pedantic, well...
