I had one (27GP950) and wasn't impressed, so returned. 2K to 4K wasn't a big jump in quality (especially not for £500 more).
Will make do with my excellent Dell S2721DGFA 1440p IPS
Will wait till 4K OLED tech on monitors improves in about 4-5 years
It's really more about the standard resolution and integer scaling. PC displays have been driven by video standards since 2009 when 16:9 became the default ratio. 1080p is yesterday's video and thus display standard, 2160p is today's standard. You can watch 1080p video on 2160p screen and vice versa and you'll be getting integer scaling. That's not the case with 1440p display.
I too would like OLED to become viable, but I'm starting to think that they may never solve that pesky burn in issue, it's likely an inherent flaw in this technology. We're gonna have to wait for something that comes after LCD and OLED. Maybe MicroLED will be it, who knows.
