If you guys ever want to get down to the bottom of this black screen thing - data is needed to begin with. As in, everybody who had or not had it should disclose (when applicable): host device, GPU, cable type, GPU driver version, OS version, kernel version, if it didn't happen or activity during which it happened.
For example: PC, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super, DisplayPort, driver 470, Ubuntu 20.04, kernel 5.11 - never happened to me.

Will let you know how I get on when mine arrives on Tuesday.
  • 5800x
  • MSI 3080
  • Corsair 1000w platinum psu
I vaguely remember having random issues with my current LG monitor before I got a higher quality display port cable and surge protector. Not sure which solved it.

5800x
3080ti (also tried 1080ti)
DP Cable (tried stock and Insignia cable)
Driver 471.68 (Also tried few other older versions including one from last year)
Win 10 20H2 19042

Happened to me. Only occurs in games. Might only happen with Gsync on.
I've tried plugging directly into wall socket.

HDMI = limited to 120hz
DP 160hz = no DSR

If we ever want to get down to the bottom of this, we need LG's debugging/logging utility which can write down what happens inside the monitor when it blinks with a black screen. If such an utility even exists, then it's LG who can and will not ever provide access to it. May be some employee may leak it, if we're lucky.

My specs: PC, radeon 6800xt, DP 160Hz, driver 21.6.1 whql, win10 21h1 - happens when freesync on and active in-game and when plugged to a wall socket with other equipment; when plugged solo via a separate filter (APC PF8VNT3-RS) black screens never happen.

Maybe this black screen issue is related to Windows 10 bug?

Here is another user reporting same issue with two different monitors.

Here is a link to his video showing the issue.

Have anyone here tried switching off the adaptive sync option found in display settings /graphic settings?
On the lg web site i think theirs a windows 10 driver on the support page

Ok monitor arrived today. Everything looks good so far.

Got the colours looking how I like them, only thing I can't seem to figure out is how to run at 160hz, when i enable overclocking it goes into a weird bordered image.

So let's try and get some system configuration going.
Users with black screen issue please report the following

CPU: I7 8700k @4.7

REFRESH RATE: 144hz and 144hz
Freesync or Gsync enabled: Yes Both Freesync

Only happens when playing games, also happens so randomly can go a week without issue.
