Thanks.

Do you know if the black screen issue is LG-specific or is related to the dual-screen setting?

I am using another screen via DP, I worry the issue will appear if I use DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 at the same time.

I personally have the exact same issue with a 1920x1200 HP Z24N on a Quadro Q1000M.
I'm unconvinced that this is specific to LG, as I've also found threads online for other monitors exhibiting the same behaviour.
I also think it's a Windows issue as I haven't seen people with consoles confirm the same thing.

Hello guys
I RMAed my 29GN950-B last week and LG told me the part will arrive in late Sep. They will send me an uplift letter for me to ask for either an replacement or refund from Overclockers.

I do not think Overclockers have other 27GN950-B available, so I am considering the 27GP950. But the black screen issue is obviously annoying.

I do not really trust Gigabyte, does anyone have other suggestions for me for a 4K 144HZ monitor?

You could check out the EVE Spectrum - it's a bit of a wildcard but uses exactly the same panel as LG GP27950.

Thanks.

Very hard to say really we need more user feedback on this model as it's just been released.

Heard about it when I bought the 27GN950-B. Honestly, I am happy about it, so pity that I have to get it refunded and choose an alternative.

Mine had what looks like a TAB failure, sent it back for a replacement and waiting on the new one, maybe I'll end up with your return :p
I have solved my black screen issue, so I'll be keeping my order with this monitor.

I will be returning a defect 27GN950-B, that's what LG told me. They cannot fix it as the part is not available.

Thanks.

I am fairly sure that this is a monitor issue.
I was running two screens before. I replaced one with this screen, now I have the issue (amongst other issues).

This...
Please do tell

TL;DR:
Don't mix HDMI and DP on the same display output.

I had tried a f* ton of fixes, from switching out all of the cables for both high speed and standard high quality DP and HDMI cables, tested this monitor in all of the ports with a number of different cables in each, I tried moving the power brick to an entirely independent socket, enabling/disabling VRR, HDR, dropping the response time, turning off local dimming, updating graphics drivers, updating firmware, installing LG's software (don't bother).

Those changes sometimes had an effect on the frequency of the black screens, but it was always there. It could be as often as every minute, to a few times per hour. Sometimes it even happened on the Windows desktop, other times it happened only in games. This was primarily all done with the 3070.

I also want to note that I had the same black screen issues with a second device (a laptop) which I have connected - a Quadro Q1000M. This occurs with both my LG 27GP950 and the HP Z24N G2 whenever I have multiple image sources coming out from the same GPU. Currently I have three monitors going out from the Q1000M and the HP Z24N G2 periodically flashes black exactly the same as the 27GP950. This is the only one using DP, the other two are connected via HDMI (with a USB-C adapter and a port replicator).

My other half has a two-monitor setup with some random 1080p Acer devices, sometimes she gets the same black screen flash - she's using one HDMI and one DP on a 1660 Super. Her black screen flash is very rare though, less than once per day but it does occur.

Eventually my 3070 outputs were absolutely fine when all three displays were on DP only. I could put on HDR, max the refresh rate and VRR, enable local dimming, set response time to fastest and I didn't have a single black screen issue either when gaming or otherwise, in other words the monitor was working flawlessly under those conditions and so are the other two.

Another note, the other monitor was an LG 27GN850, and it hasn't ever experienced any of these issues. Only the Z24N G2 and the 27GP950 had any problem. My previous curved Samsung 24in1080p monitors were also flawless (but comparatively, meh picture quality).

I'm only using DP outputs and have this issue.

I did all the above to get to my eventual result, might be that you need to not mix DP and also do one of the various other things that I did also, like updating your graphics drivers or one of the other steps.
All I know is that when using only DP I don't have the issue, if I mix it up again I get black screens randomly. It's also possible that perhaps in the hours of testing and tweaking that I did, I might not have detailed some of the things that I tried in the summary above.

The simple solution on my end is to not use the HDMI port on my 3070 and just utilize the 3x DPs for my 3x displays, nothing else has resulted in the flawless gaming experience that I enjoyed before I had the TAB failure and had to send it back for replacement. There might be a different problem/solution for a different card.

Safe to say the product is more finnicky than I'd like, but as long as I can get my 4k 144hz gaming done with all the bells and whistles enabled I'm happy to have found the configuration that works for me.
