Mine is on pre order. Wondering if anyone is having the black screen issue with a PS5 or is this isolated to PC users?

I am on Xbox (gaming)/PC (productivity) and have never had the issue. Only 'black' screen I get is when the console changes to HDR and the monitor has to do the same. I've had the issue where there is a vertical bar down the middle of the screen which distorts everything. Again I think that's due to mixing resolutions and nothing a quick off/on fixed. The latter has happened once maybe twice since I've had it.

Total Power On Time of 604 hours here.

It is isolated to the VRR mode, PS5 does not support it yet, Sony promises to enable VRR via a firmware update. As to Xbox, it supports VRR, but nobody here reported that they had these two conditions met:

1) their 27GP950 has black screens when used with PC;
2) the same 27GP950 does not have black screens when gaming with VRR enabled and active (and within the VRR FPS interval) with Xbox series X/S.

So, it is not possible to predict whether a given 27GP950 will or won't have black screens when used with a PS5 after Sony updates it to enable VRR.

In 2021 these should be internal in my opinion. External bricks are so yesterday.

My 27GL850 came with a EU brick, but still looks smaller than these pics, base of thumb to end of thumb covers about 70-80 of length of it.

Can confirm the rectifier runs hot and the monitor itself isn't exactly cool, having it internally probably introduces heat issues.

No further issues since switching everything to DP, haven't ever experienced a black screen issue.

However...

Only had black screens in one game, Night of the Dead. 300hrs+ on the monitor and a dedicate gaming PC so 99% of those hours are gaming hours.
Quoting myself here as had this happen in another game now. Youngest is playing Slim Rauncher which we'd not played on this monitor before today and it has black screen 3 times in half an hour. No black screens since disabling adaptive-sync on the monitor itself.

Debating packing the monitor up because adaptive-sync clearly has problems and if you have to disable one of its core functions clearly not fit for purpose. For clarity in all other regards i find the monitor to be perfect for my needs and happy with it. Not happy with the black screens though, especially given it is meant to be a premium monitor.

Totally agree here, to be honest, I thought it was fully G-sync when I got it... not just "G-sync compatible". So a little annoyed there. I tried to disable Gync in the NV drivers and it didn't help the screen blanking at all.
Maybe from the monitor that works... but as you say, not fit for purpose if this is the case.
Kinda starting to get worried on where I might stand on returning this since I'm not really getting anywhere with LG or here.

I've started the return process with the spicy place for my monitor and pre-ordered the Gigabyte MU28 (Hardware Unboxed review) to replace it. The Gigabyte is due early Sept and uses the Innolux panel which is admittedly a step down from the faster LG panel with its better response times / lower input lag. The thing is i'm not happy to wait for a firmware fix for this monitor that might be months away if it arrives at all. I'll revert back to my LG 4k 60hz screen which has worked flawless since 2015!

can anyone tell me what the result of the vote so far is, at the top of this thread? it seems stupid to hide the result as technically i could just place a vote to see it but as i am invested in a preorder i don't want false numbers.

fwiw i did the online return thing at the spicy place and got an email saying to contact their support "to discuss further..." because it was over 30 days old. Rang support and explained the situation, they approved the return and passed me to a team that has arranged DPD to collect :). 15 / 20mins on the call so not too bad.

Hello guys
I RMAed my 29GN950-B last week and LG told me the part will arrive in late Sep. They will send me an uplift letter for me to ask for either an replacement or refund from Overclockers.

I do not think Overclockers have other 27GN950-B available, so I am considering the 27GP950. But the black screen issue is obviously annoying.

I do not really trust Gigabyte, does anyone have other suggestions for me for a 4K 144HZ monitor?

Best
