LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

good point, we're talking about overclocking the module here, not the panel, is there other example in the non-ultrawide panels that use overclocking of the module? I read this: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-3123327/sync-issues-1440p-144hz.html
which I am not sure is relevant in that case, did they upgrade the modules since then?
Yea they did , there is a fan module on new 4k asus 144hz to keep that cool . The problem is fan going to be very noisy so I guess it running very hot .
It depends of monitor constructuon as well . I was reading alienware going to heat up quite a bit because it even has built in PSU . The only way is to check from time to time if monitor goes hot at the back and make some breaks to keep that cool .

Yes I saw this but my understanding is that that's not the newest module in the LG. So if I am correct, this is the same module as in the asus rog swift PG279 right?
No it is still old module the same as acer x34p because new module using displayport 1.4 to push that 4k 144hz data . Lg uses dp 1.2 that's way is limited to 120hz only .

Enyway I just going to pick up my sample from DPD depot right now as driver from DPD was trying to deliver that yesterday on completely wrong addres , thankfully nobody was at home there LOL . What a mess . But yes finally after few months of waiting going to pick up that beast and see what happen :D

Yes that what I was saying so that's the module that possibly heats up when overclocked, there are other (older) examples than the acer x34p that have been using this module overclocked in the non-ultrawide family.

Hope the monitor you pick up meets your expectations

I have too say it was worth to wait 4 months and nearly a month after I pre ordered that monitor . Minimal ips glow left corners , no dead/stucks pixels on my sample . I been testing on multiple games but battlefield V and shadow of tomb rider looks like wtf is going on LOL. I think those games most benefit from extended color reproduction . I done test for scanlines with gsync on and off and happy to report I didn't see any . So far very happy .

what should i test my monitor for? what are scanlines? should i test it for blur? can you guys link me all the websites used for testing a monitor for everything?

like uniformity, those scan lines, how to test gsync etc etc

i have glow, but only visible in black loading screens. not really visible in dark games unless i look for it. show us pics

Any updates on some normal pictures Katscan? Or anyone else who wants to do this?

For example some normal photos of people or trees or whatever, next to your old normal SRGB monitor.

I would like to see the difference with normal images, not for example wallpapers which are already over saturated.

Thanks for the help with it by the way.

I see BLB everywhere in those images. or is it IPS glow.
was thinking about returning my AW3418DW for this monitor but its no different to the alienware monitor, has the same technical issues and flaws though some are better than others, panel lotto
my AW3418DW has no issues that i can find so i think i will stick with the panel i have rather than run into issues with this LG.... dont want to break my lucky panel lol

Also the AW3418DW is currently £750 direct right now. Hard to justify the LG at £450 more. The Alienware is a solid monitor. I paid £677 with student discount.

thinking of treating my self to a new monitor for Xmas, on top of the normal computer stuff, what this monitor like for watching blu-ray and dvd on

It's ips glow . Yea I was thinking abaut alienware but heating issiue on that screen and design not really suitable for my desk . I like LG rgb ring light, it improves really well overall contrast . I have everything set as TFT central review - 17 brightness , gama 2 , and custom colour temp and for me colours looks very natural in games . I was playing 5 or 6hrs yesterday battlefield V and couldn't notice any heating of the screen .

Not very good in my opinion because IPS poor contrast . I got 55" sony VA panel + Denon AV receiver and dolby atmos speakers for blu ray movies but spend around 5k for full set up
