Yeah, but I can still return it for a full refund, but haven’t gone in to specifics about postage. They say the manufacturer doesn’t class a single dead pixel as a fault, which is astounding considering that the manufacturer should ensure everyone of their pixels works correctly, let alone on a £1,500 monitor.

it put me off buying from oc given the value. Went with a company that is easier on returns.

Another impression that might be helpful to folks considering the 38GN950:

Initially I was concerned about what I would be sacrificing getting a 'merely' GSYNC Compatible monitor, particularly since I'm still rocking a GTX1080 and my old monitor 34GK950G featured a v1 GSYNC module.

Before upgrading my monitor I ran Nvidia's GSYNC pendulum demo/test on my then 34GK950G and was surprised to see an occasional stutter between 32-38 fps... I'd always assumed it rendered motion perfectly - I guess my framerate never (or rarely) dipped that low.

Anyway, this issue disappeared completely on upgrading to the 38GN950; motion now renders completely smoothly even at those low frame rates, and as you'd expect, runs buttery smooth (to my old eyes anyway) at 60+ fps.

Silly question for the owners of this model, is there a plastic screen on the display area to peel off

Looking at the top corners it seems like there is but when trying with my fingers nothing comes off.

Really really gutted. It looks like it's a panel defect and not a physical crack on the screen itself.

When turned off there's no visible sign of any damage. Only when you turn on the screen you get to see it :(

Mine arrived this morning as well havn't unboxed it yet don't really have a card to drive it at present saw there was one left in stock last week and snapped it up it was either that or wait months for more stock to show up most of these monitors have long lead times on delivery.

Oof. Surely that'll get returned at no cost as it clearly a manufacturing defect.

NO! Oh good grief no! The only covers the screens have is a white sort of thin foamy material that isn't even sticky. There is no protective peel. Peel that and you wreck your monitor.

I think this is a case where Overclockers policies fall short. They normally ask you to return items and then check the item themselves. But this process can take weeks. To my mind where there is clear evidence that there is a manufacturing fault and the buyer can photo the fault, then Overclockers should process replacements MUCH faster. There is nothing worse than being forced to wait for weeks and weeks over something that is not the buyers fault.
To me that looks like one of the lower levels of filters is scratched. Wouldn't show on the screen until it's illuminated.
