LG 42-inch OLED

Well JL got back to me regarding a price match with Mr Currys £100 difference on the 42" price, they won't bite at all and said Currys has to get it in stock first.... even though they themselves don't have it in stock since everything on pre-order listings.

So if you really do want to buy from JL you gotta wait for Mr Curries and Mr Richer get them in actual stock then submit the JL price promise form to save the 100 quid.

Richer Sounds are now price matching the 42" pre order at £1299

nice one was £1399 yday, was tempted to grab curry’s as with work voucher I would have got tomorrow, would have made it £1200 for me, but figure 6 year Warranty and earbuds will balance out so order in for 42. Now to hide that and the 77” c2 from other half when they arrive :o

So how long is it gonna take for the 42C2 to be releasd? No news about that so far?

richer sounds said to me while ordering they are expecting stock on the 21st of march. My delivery they expect will reasonably quick and set as next day. If all goes well they expect should have it sometime that week 21st - 25th, but suppose we shall see.

John Lewis pre-order page also shows delivery in 1 week, but expect unless you got order in early, will be backfilling initially given they had preorders open for awhile.

cheers radox was wondering ETA time frames, tempted to order from JL and then submit a price match afterwards. Very good to see Richer sounds still value their customers though they were quick to delete the price tag and compete with Curry's and also have the extra 1 year warranty cover on it.

Sony 42" doesn't appear to becoming just yet their Sony reps are getting new product training next month, and then from May+ their 2022 series may start to arrive.

Will keep an eye. Although I'm from the Netherlands, I'm always curious about the reviews/experiences from from regular customers like us.

Just placed a pre order from Richer Sounds too.

Lot of money but as a desktop monitor it's the pinnacle for me.

Plus it's bonus season whoop.
Will be looking forward to your review! It's indeed a lot of money but there are lots of LCD monitors that are as expensive or costs more than 42C2. I value contrast very much so black must be real black and not grey.

Sony is always late on that and on features so nothing new. Rtings have measured Sony's input lag at about 18ms. I'm not a competitive gamer but I really can notice that. Maybe because of my fast reaction time? LG measured at about 10ms in 60hz mode and about 5-6ms in 120hz. But their auto dimming is quite a concern. HDTVTest made a video about that.

Yeah its a known concern with Sonys OLEDs, they are a tad more aggressive with their dimming algorithms especially in gaming. I once asked this on an Sony thread to find out if its improved and better but was told to go onto an LG thread instead. Use to fan boys thinking their Sony or LG TVs are perfect but their is no such thing sadly.

Still I got my answer, that to me confirms Sony are still aggressive with their dimming tech not that I am advocating either Sony vs LG, both have great pros and cons naturally, if I had a choice id rather go Philips or even better Panasonic but they are even more late to the scene and far too expensive.

42" is much better for a desktop than 48", as a user of a 40" myself its a tough one ideally I think I'd want 38" but of course that's not an option :(

Annoying Isn't it. I thought we would start to see 37/40 hit the market after 32" became established but Ultrawide and a shift in the TV market to bigger screens put the brakes on that IMO.

Market is decades behind in regards to high end panels for gamers or smaller room owners imo, they appear to think everyone has large living rooms and 48" and 55" is the normal size.

Manufacturers would have made billions if they made 28" - 42" high end OLED panels, wonder what happen to LGs 31" OLED panel must have just been a rumour.

Yep 48 inch he has got it seems, brought from John Lewis apparently so not sure if that means panels now going out or John Lewis did him a favour.

either way exciting stuff, wonder why they removed the 120hz BFI though.
