LG 42-inch OLED

richer sounds said to me while ordering they are expecting stock on the 21st of march. My delivery they expect will reasonably quick and set as next day. If all goes well they expect should have it sometime that week 21st - 25th, but suppose we shall see.

John Lewis pre-order page also shows delivery in 1 week, but expect unless you got order in early, will be backfilling initially given they had preorders open for awhile.
Will keep an eye. Although I'm from the Netherlands, I'm always curious about the reviews/experiences from from regular customers like us.

Just placed a pre order from Richer Sounds too.

Lot of money but as a desktop monitor it's the pinnacle for me.

Plus it's bonus season whoop.
Will be looking forward to your review! It's indeed a lot of money but there are lots of LCD monitors that are as expensive or costs more than 42C2. I value contrast very much so black must be real black and not grey.

cheers radox was wondering ETA time frames, tempted to order from JL and then submit a price match afterwards. Very good to see Richer sounds still value their customers though they were quick to delete the price tag and compete with Curry's and also have the extra 1 year warranty cover on it.

Sony 42" doesn't appear to becoming just yet their Sony reps are getting new product training next month, and then from May+ their 2022 series may start to arrive.
Sony is always late on that and on features so nothing new. Rtings have measured Sony's input lag at about 18ms. I'm not a competitive gamer but I really can notice that. Maybe because of my fast reaction time? LG measured at about 10ms in 60hz mode and about 5-6ms in 120hz. But their auto dimming is quite a concern. HDTVTest made a video about that.

Yeah its a known concern with Sonys OLEDs, they are a tad more aggressive with their dimming algorithms especially in gaming. I once asked this on an Sony thread to find out if its improved and better but was told to go onto an LG thread instead. Use to fan boys thinking their Sony or LG TVs are perfect but their is no such thing sadly.

Still I got my answer, that to me confirms Sony are still aggressive with their dimming tech not that I am advocating either Sony vs LG, both have great pros and cons naturally, if I had a choice id rather go Philips or even better Panasonic but they are even more late to the scene and far too expensive.
True that, I've read about the aggressive auto dimming. Now that will be on my list too. But the chance is very slim I'll go for sony because they sucks. I've had very bad experiences with them.
Panasonic is a big no too because indeed, the prices... The 48JZW984 is €1699 and 1004 is €1799. Wow, just wow. And what are the differences exactly? I don't know.
It is knows Panasonic got the best picture but what about gaming? There are no reviews abouth the 48" Panasonic but they are very very expensive.

He's got it !

Unfortunately no 42"... :(

its already out, was 32” LG32EP950. It’s made by JOLED so differs somewhat from the oleds from LD display. Also marketed to designers and what have you as it has a steep price tag.
Not an option for people like me because they are not flickerfree certified. I had two times JOLED monitors and both have been returned within 2 days and 1 day because health issues appeared like fatiguing headache, problems with vision and head being fatigue in certain spots. It was serious. The first was the Asus PQ22UC. Asus with their horrible QC...that unit had blacks that were like dark purple black when display is supposed to be black. But nope, it had a very ugly dark purple smearing. And blue tints started to appear after two days when there is a lot of white like winter sceneries in games or movies. It was not like that on the first. The second monitor was the Eizo Foris Nova. Now that was the BEST OLED monitor I ever had! Zero input lags and yet the best picture and black was truely black! Unfortunately...no flicker-free. If it was flicker-free, I would kept it and it was €1299 instead of €4999!!!

So today one web/store got the 42C2 on pre-order in the Netherlands. Well, not really pre-order because this store doesn't do that, it says "Soon available" at price of €1599.

Not fully 100% sure, but Panasonic do really fine tune and calibrate their high end OLED sets so its got the correct whites, blacks and colours as close as it can get to what the movie industry wanted, so yeah out the box its even more accurate and better then say Sonys or LG oleds. Gaming wise it probably won't match LGs or Sonys.
Tried to search it again on youtube just a few moment and only Vincent Teoh has reviewed the 48" Panasonic OLED. Yeah no, not gonna put my money on it.

I wonder what does this mean for the European EUR if the prices in GBP have been adjusted to 1299. The price of the 42C2 is still €1599, atleast better than 1650 lol
I just hope FOMO won't kick in... I already have a 55" OLED since September 2018 so I know how the picture is so yeah.
5 year insurance is €129 here from a webstore I'd like to order from.

Could still drop, I tried to haggle and moan a bit to my main retailer and they didnt budge till a 2nd top retailer with in their local area also dropped the price by £100.

Maybe see if you got other retailers or big online companies in your country that are cheaper and haggle/complain a bit.

I am still debating if I should get the insurance or not, it really was a paper weight I felt but sure its a risk to not have it and its not like this TV is cheap either.
I know, I'll be waiting one or a few months. Retailers knows damn very well the 42" is very popular so they indeed won't budge lol
What are the prices on the UK LG website btw?
Unfortunately there are some stores here that are complete jackasses so I have to be careful from which store I'll buy from.

And good point, I intend to add insurance if I'm ordering something expensive.

Yeah understanding retailers and LG will give you a migraine, LG UK got the pre-order prices up but only 55" and above, but some are more pricey then the normal uk retailers and some cheaper prices so its very odd. One good thing is they have an 5% discount if its your first LG purpose but not sure if it makes it cheaper since no 42/48 prices up.

Another odd thing is the color of the backplate. The 42C24LA got the black back and the LB got the white:
https://www.lg.com/nl/televisies/lg-oled42c24la
https://www.lg.com/nl/televisies/lg-oled42c26lb

The 5% seems to be present too but not really worth it I think because of hassles with return policies.

Anyway, we'll soon find it out!

Good spotting, will need to be careful with model numbers someone over on Av community mentioned a dutch store is getting 48C2 in stock this Thursday, so looks like europe stock is also hitting now, stop the fomo reported today that the bigger C2 screens will be coming end of March to early April I think, also Sonys QD-OLEDs late april. Looks like will finally be getting stock and proper reviews of everything soon.
Indeed. I don't understand this odd design choice. The white stand version will look hideous on my desk for example. So the 48C2 this Thursday, so nothing about the 42C2?
QD-OLED for now is not an option because of limited size options, tho I'm curious but not excited.

So LA is black version and LB is white. Pretty confusing...

48" C2 another look here

So LG is finally bringing back the dark grey or black color, eh. The white version looks hideous as heck! It sucks the 42' doesn't have the stand like the 48".

And regarding Sony 42" OLED, I really would like the 42A90K but I won't due their idiotic choices and too late the party like firmware updates and features. And price won't be cheap anyway.

I wonder as it does not benefit from the extra 20% brightness does that mean the evo panels benefit is used for pixel’s lasting longer and be more resistant to burn in vs last years models? I mean as I recall Vincent some months ago speculated that this would be the case on these and it makes sense as more gamers would be buying them.
Very good point. I totally forgot about that as I indeed thought about it too the evo "monitors" would last longer. So does the 42" actually has evo or not? LG website says yes but other non-LG websites says no. Maybe it's because it's a smaller screen. Bigger screen gets bright much more than smaller screens like happens to LCD too. And energy consumption of th 42" is less than 48". Evo panels makes much more sense in buying them indeed.

So what does the heatsink mean? For people who have their OLED light at 50 or above up to 100 or is it only for peak brightness? And what if I have it at 25?
The Sony 42A90K would look beautiful on my big walnut desk.

You UK people are lucky to have such discounts and promos. The Netherlands never does that. I'm not sure who said that 42" would be 999 but this is pretty disappointing so I'll probably wait till June or July or even Black Friday if the crappy prices stays that high. The prices are not silly, they are insane. For me it would be a total of €1730 including 5 years insurance.

I'll also wait on the reviews and if the ABL is still a thing. I hate it when there is dark scenes and suddenly white places like subtitles gets dimmed too.

So a bit of a dilemma, so caught up in the excitement I didn’t think to check the size of the stand, it looks like stand will overhang my TV stand by around 5cm each side, depth is fine. Is this likely to be an issue, stand looks solid so not sure it is?
At first I thought about the stand is not solid but if you see carefully at how this type of stand is done, it could be solid:

https://www.lg.com/nl/images/televisies/md07547152/gallery/DZ-04.jpg

Regarding the overhanging, according to JL, the tv is 3.7cm high:

But I don't understand why our Dutch webstore says 5.3cm.

Its important to remember when you see these comparison videos like the one I posted above, take it with salt since its much different in actual person.

Cameras no matter how good can't capture what the eye sees, I rely more on the verbal commentary, he did mention the C2 was tad brighter
and more sharper detailed then what you see on the camera so I kinda go with that since he is in person. Half these Ytubers don't even own high end
cameras and YT itself compressed the video cutting out detail also.

Id wait for Vincent or Phil from hdtv to do better comparisons, rely on their audio commentary also.

I think Vincent and techradar early thoughts are spot on still, there probably won't be any major difference between C1 and C2, not unless you got the C2 55"+ to see that extra Evo brightness.

Still the LG C2 42 is the best 42" currently on the market, well until QD-OLED or better 42" comes along.
Each time I'm on the verge to kinda give up, I easily get convinced to get the 42C2... I hate mysef. But yeah, OLED pixels are sharper so imagine the ppi on the 42C2.

I also will wait for rtings to review the 42C2. Curious about the image retention. LG are so far the best and highest scored on that.

This earbuds thing needs to be stopped, so useless and increases prices for no reason.

Anyway, I'm looking for your reviews/experiences when the 42" C2 gets delivered to you! And be careful for LA and LB. LB got the white color.
