LG 42-inch OLED

My TV turned up earlier, really liking it. I'm not using it as a monitor until i make a new desk early next year (Alex drawers, 2000cm x 800cm desktop).

Standard Sky HD looks great, gaming on my consoles (Series X & PS5) is much more emersive than it was on my 55" Sony XH90 (My main reason for going back to a 42"). I haven't really played with any of the settings other than putting the console ports in game mode.

Depends what you are used to I suppose. I have my CX in my bedroom set around that. I prefer the darker image and you quickly get used to it. On a monitor I could imagine me having to set it very low.

That just covers the standard unpairing and pairing process, I'd have assumed this happened naturally as you bought one TV before the other. Hence they shouldn't interact if both are paired, once you've pressed the power button. You can't pair one remote to two TVs - maybe you somehow paired both remotes to one TV?

Hmm possibly. I'll give it another go when it arrives in the week. I want to give it another go as I feel like I didn't give it much of a chance and what with the decent discounts on it now, thought why not

  • WBC (old panel) = 00/00/1/03
  • WBE (new panel) = 08/00/1/03

I forgot to get back to you and say thanks for the snapshots of the panel.
I just checked my panel and its the WBE it seems.
Anything to cry about? Im happy with my panel tbh.

Nothing too much.... enjoy the WBE panel you get slightly less watts used and better burn in proof. The WBC is not far off if not the same performance really.
 
Quick question for all, I have been using the TV in SDR mode only so far.

To enable HDR, do you have to enable it in Windows, and also change a setting on the TV itself? Or is it just one of those steps and if so which one? :)

Have to say I was concerned if this monitor would be too big but actually it's just perfect in terms of distance from where I am sitting to the panel.

Incidentally one of things that drew me to this panel is that with the existing legs it comes with the panel is sitting fairly well back almost against the wall which negates the need for a wall mount IMHO.

That’s to achieve a common 120 nits for desktop use. But absolutely fine to set OLED light at whatever you find comfortable. The video where that comes from also provides options for 150 and 200 nits brightness levels which are also quite common

Its tricky but with some digging search for low profile wall mounts and then look for 300x200 vesa support and then compare the distance between wall and bracket, 0.6" or 16mm is very good you probably won't find too much smaller then that I believe.

This one would do the job its 0.6"/14mm from wall and supports 300x200 vesa. I have a similar model but its the one with rubber mounts to stop vibrations. One can easily install a rubber o ring before the TV and mount to do the same though.

Wall mounting takes a fair bit of DiY, I done it wrong the first few times myself, but the last installation went into the wooden studs instead on my plasterboard with 4-5 screws, rest where there was no wooden studs available where the holes on the mount would not face up I used M6 togglers for plasterboard. I can now hang off the wall myself, so have no fear whatever TV goes up there its never coming down.

I think that's meant to be 125 Nits . And like you, despite all three of my previous monitors been set to 125 nits, I found it a bit dull. Tweak mine up to 50 which is think is around 150nits. Just best to set it to what suits you

Is the service remote the only method to confirm which panel you have? I've read that on the box around where the s/n is, if you look at certain letters, that's also a way to determine which panel you have too apparently. I do not know how accurate this is though.
