LG 48CX OLED - 4K 120 Hz

I don't think any future oled TVs will have fixed the Burn-in or retention problems, there is some features on the oleds CX to avoid it, and when the LG C1, 42inch comes out this year or next year it will still have the same problem. But maybe when Mirco oled comes out we might see some changes then!

Yeah it's IKEA that's been slightly modified to accommodate the larger screen. Wall mounted with a slim bracket to the wall. I get 85cm from the screen. Which is just enough. Still adjusting to its size.

Width is ok for eyes , it's height that takes used to. Needing to look up that can be a bit less natural and that needs work.

Don't feel much eyestraing on comparison to my wide-screen 1440p VA panel.

It's bright but not garring on the eyes.

COD on all high looked amazing. It really is something to behold.

I agree when the sun sets/raises in games it looks amazing on a oled.:D

anyone using this with a studio monitors connected to a pc? whats your setup?

currently im using a dynaudio xeo2 so i use the 48cx optical output and connect it to the xeo2, but im thinking of getting a new set of speakers maybe the adam audio T8V or Ax8 and they dont have optical input, i think they have whats called a XLR connector, so i guess i will be needing a DAC , so any suggestion what to use? i want to still be able to the like get the sound from the pc and also sound from the 48cx
im just not sure which is ok to use

I don't trust the glass base TV stands on the weight, how can a glass base hold 40kg when a metal can only hold 27kg! I have the metal Sanus VTVS1 Tv stand for my 55CX Oled.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sanus-Universal-Swivel-32-60-Inch-Screens-Black/dp/B01N6C0V5O

Lots of TV old fashioned stands where they had 3 shelves all toughened glass used to support the CRT TVs and those things weighed a hell of a lot more than OLED/LED/LCD TVs. Toughened glass is pretty strong, you could stand on the 8mm base and it would easily support your weight.

Still don't trust glass, call me old fashioned :D

btw I measured the sizes of 42" vs 48" oleds

42" is Height: 20.5 inch, Width: 36.5 inch
Its not even that much smaller then the 48", still it probably would be more suitable for gamers and desk users but for movie fans who watch telly most of the time much further back you may notice that smaller screen especially if in wide screen mode.

If you can adjust for that 48" or adapt to it, perhaps its still wise.

yup a 42 would be better for desktop use, already adopted to this 48cx all is good

Not sure why people would get 144hz 27in or any other 4k monitor other over the 48oled, at 120hz its probably as good or better than 144hz, for motion clarity, and have it right distance from yourself, I now it had caveats, they both do, but for entertainment, gaming, all the way oled as long as you can manage the retention,
which is not much of an issue as long as follow a few precautionary steps, I will wait for the new LG Oled.<snip>
Well many people would buy a 27" over a 48" if the 48" was too bloody big for their desk/comfort :p

Hopefully OLED will get smaller (and I've love to see an UW OLED too!), but the fact that the 48" CX is more expensive than the 55" doesn't fill me with confidence that smaller displays would be more affordable.

I'm always reminded of this when people talk about the strength of glass:

Death of Garry Hoy - Wikipedia

In fairness, the glass didn't break :p

There is a small risk with glass breaking without any warning, the manufacturing have know about the fault way back in 2007 in fact they had over 400 complaints but they explain the tiny particles can get trapped in glass during manufacturing. In toughened glass they sometimes expand slowly over time and reach a point where they can cause the glass to break.

This was report Aug 2018

It's like with any TV size it always looks very big first time out of the box, but when your eyes adapted to the size that 48 CX will look like a 42inch and a 55 CX will look like 49inch:)

I'm looking to watch movies on this TV with headphones. What's the best way to do this, would I need to use some sort of amp for best sound quality?

Bluetooth headphones are a bit hit and miss due to sync issues. Anyone using wired cans?
