LG 48CX OLED - 4K 120 Hz

Make sure you scroll past the Ultra HD,HD, SD section to the PC resolutions in order to be able to select 120 Hz. Might need to make sure the HDMI port on the CX itself has HDMI Ultra HD Deep Colour turned on - Picture/Additional Settings.

Went into Curry’s today to suss this out as I’m still flirting with it.

Based on my preferred ‘field of vision’ I would need to be at least 120cm from the front panel to comfortably sit in front of it. With wall-mounting, that’s my head about 130cm from the wall minimum.

It just seems impossible with a conventional desk set-up, even with wall mounting. Gaming I could maybe be a touch closer but I can’t justify (£££) an OLED sitting behind monitors just for games.

Think that’s written it off for me as a desktop... still flirting with it for TV purposes!!

Even 42" is massively oversized for desk/up-close usage.

I'm totally feeling your pain btw as you appear to be mirroring my own agony trying to find a decent monitor :p
Yup it’s an utter pig - went with a Samsung for now: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/forums/posts/34725172/

No smearing at all as far as I can tell (the G7 and G9 seem to be immune to it) so could be one for your shortlist.

Does seem like a nice monitor, but I can't live with that 1000R curve. Some curve I can live with, but most curved panels are 1800R or even 3800R.

Have read some really interesting threads about problems that glasses wearers can have with aggressively curved screens, too. Like persistent vision distortion, headaches, and all that jazz. I don't like the curve in pictures, and the icing on the cake of being a glasses wearer, well I think I'll give it a miss.

Otherwise it's a beauty of a screen, by all accounts. Just that damned 1000R curve..

I was just at the brick and mortar today looking at 43" TV's for size. 48" is firmly in no-go territory for me for desktop usage. But I think I could do 43". I would need to set it back ~ another 3-4" inches from where I have my 34" UW, but I think it would work.

Need news about that 42" LG panel... it cant come soon enough.

I think some sort of curve at these sizes is necessary for a VA panel to fight colour shift.

I wear glasses (albeit a light prescription for astigmatism) and I haven’t had any issues, although really I’ve only played for a few hours. For general usage an 1800 curve would be optimum, but having had a go I can see the benefits for FPS games at the very least and in that regard it was better than I anticipated.

I was not looking forward to the 1000R curve, nor am I a super duper fan of it now, but it’s better than I feared. It’s just sort of a ‘feature’.

I’ll say if my view changes after using it for actual work this week.

The 55" version of this is now £1,100 from reputable good warranty stores - at that point it's simply too good to pass up, so I bought one, woo!

55" What TV!

Why do people justify the word 'massively' when it come to a TV size for gaming on!:D We all know that bigger is always better than small:)

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

And the LG 48inch OLED was too big for desktop in the reviews!:)

So what about Nvidia 65inch Big Format for desktop so that must be an overkill Right!;)

I love the CX55 I bought a week ago. Finaly a good unit wohoo. Went thru several C9 and 2CX earlier. All of them had aweful banding. Well im so frikking happy right now, as this one just blows me away!

Just wow, I have never in my life seen such a clean panel. Before this one - would never ever have belived such perfect one excist really.

So im absolutely in heaven right now. So blown away

IMO I would never ever use such large screen for desktop usage. There my PG279Q are the perfect size, for work and browsing. The telly is pure for gaming and movies on the couch

@AORUS - yes to all of the above. They're too big to be sat that close to for me. Even a 34" ultrawide was too big for me to be sat that close to. Not in terms of resolution, but having to move my neck around to look at things was tiresome.

Nothing will ever beat 27" 1440p for me.

How may people who bought the 48" to use as a monitor are still using it as a monitor.

A few months LG was sending these out Youtubers to review and use as a monitor. The Tech Chap, like others, couldn't say enough about how great the experience was, and in a later video swapped it because it was too big.
