LG 48CX OLED - 4K 120 Hz

What's the depth of you desk and how far is the bottom of your keyboard from the front of the display?

I almost bought a 48" several times, in and out of basket. The width would fit but my desk isn't deep enough.

Even 42" is massively oversized for desk/up-close usage.:p

But I think I could do 43". I would need to set it back ~ another 3-4" inches from where I have my 34" UW, but I think it would work.

Need news about that 42" LG panel... it cant come soon enough.

Probably both right, I think with the 48" it was just a necessary compromise due to 48" being the only size that existed for OLED.

With 42" size screen even the thx distance calculator is suggesting 1.4 metre distance so pretty much not for most desktop or gamers really, it would still be a hell of a lot better then the 48" though.

I think I could make do with a LG 31" oled monitor for desktop use, LG 42" oled for some light desktop/gaming but more TV watching use, hopefully both sets arrive asap and hopefully it is those mysterious LG EX Life style models that have yet to be announced.

How may people who bought the 48" to use as a monitor are still using it as a monitor.

A few months LG was sending these out Youtubers to review and use as a monitor. The Tech Chap, like others, couldn't say enough about how great the experience was, and in a later video swapped it because it was too big.

Like said by others earlier, more of a compromise then anything else. Yes you can get a bigger desk or pull it away from the wall if you got space behind you or add a plank of timber or some put a chipboard on top to extend it. Creating space between you and this 48" beast is some work to do, you want to aim for as much distance as possible even an 80cm depth desk won't cut it (I have one this deep) probably 120-130cm depth desk but that don't exist hence why I suggested you may need to do the mods or work arounds like I said above.

A good reference point is from the thx guys here:

48", recommended distance is 1.65 metres away to give you some perspective. Obviously not everyone will be the same, some might want to be closer or further but its a nice starting point number.

If you can id wait till this fall for Lgs 31" and hopefully 42" oled.

The bottom of the screen is or 66mm to edge of desk front. Keyboard is 35mm to screen actually moved screen slightly closer to adjust to my eyesight better. Total depth of desk which is glassed top DIY construction with shelf for keyboard slightly below desk height is 80mm. My viewing distance is around 75mm. Screen is mounted on Fityoueyes stand with black glass bottom.

You must be mad to buy this LG monitor.
Its too big and too expensive

For those who can afford just enjoy life, like me I game on a 55CX:) OLED never going back eek LCD.

I know it will be for sure but can we afford at this price point?

Life is too short, and yes why not:) unless you have boss wife then no:D

You are right. 32 or 42 inch would be perfect for gaming
Too small in size having to sit too close to an OLED just to read the text,

@AORUS - yes to all of the above. They're too big to be sat that close to for me. Even a 34" ultrawide was too big for me to be sat that close to. Not in terms of resolution, but having to move my neck around to look at things was tiresome. Nothing will ever beat 27" 1440p for me.

Sitting close isn't a good ideal to any LCD monitor or OLED TV, I sit 2m away from my 55CX OLED and in that way I see the full screen if I sit too close with HDR on I would need sunglasses:D and could damage my eyes in long term.

Compare to OLED gaming

I'm one, as long as you have a big enough desk to sit far enough back its great. I have it wall mounted with a 80cm desk and well chuffed with it

I like the idea of custom RGB water-cool system look very nice, never tried it myself always used fans in builds just haven't got used too the ideal of having water in PC call me old but read too many bad reports over the years on leaks and pump fault's gamers losing there systems just like the AIO systems at the time, I am sure the numbers are small now days but just don't want to take the risk if it goes all wrong on custom builds with no warranty to back you up, now Corsair AIO have a fault warranty to replace the damage cause by their pumps, if the coolant was safe in custom builds I would use it but it's not should if & when it leaks!

At first I thought it was a joke a PC's in fish tanks using mineral oil but after reading it non-conductive, and doesn't conduct electricity like water or most other liquids do you would think the companies who build these PC parts like GB/ Corsair and other brands would come up with a better ideal on safe coolant but they still haven't there was on company called Engineered Fluids in 2018 design dielectric coolant solution safe for Data PC servers Also in 2019- 3M Liquid design there own but still not for consumers today only for business to save money on cooling there systems @95%
