LG 48CX OLED - 4K 120 Hz

Yes that was exactly my point, the line is inside, away from the edge of the panel. I suspect it's a quirk of the encoding or image processing :)

It's not uncommon to see content where there's some discrepancy in the first or final row of pixels, I often notice it on animated content where colours are brighter. Not specific to OLED TVs here, I've seen it on lots of content over the years.
That reminds me of the content I used to watch a lot a few years ago and I thought I was going nuts, even tested the same content on my pc monitor and still the same.
The same content tested on OLED of my PSVita and lcd VA monitor.

Recently I saw a similar effect when watching The Simpsons (on terrestrial TV). The farthest right column of pixels had been transferred to the left edge of the screen. It took a while to figure out but that was it! I think it carried on for a week.

Yes! Oddly enough it's always on the left! And the most annoying is, once you see it, you can't unsee it! It's like it engraved in our brain :(

I use the cx48 as my monitor upstairs and find myself in a situation where I could use some advice.

I've recently split with my wife but we on good terms and my little girl will be living with her. I've said I will buy a few bits for her new house and a TV is going to be one of them. I have a QLED downstairs and I do want another OLED so I've considered giving her the QLED and getting another CX55 for my main TV. I would ideally like the C1 but funds are not really there. Is the difference between the CX and the C1 that big and am I wasting money getting a CX at this point?

Had the same decision to make recently on upgrading B8 after giving that to a family friend as it was too big for my new room - long story short it is very unlikely the price difference is worth it. C1 has a couple of game features, updated software and that is about it from what I could tell. Even the 'game optimisations' re input lag are not necessarily true with the latest CX firmware that put them neck and neck re input lag, although I am not sure that is even a concern for you. So no, get a CX and save some cash.

I would say the only real qualitative difference is the missing on demand apps. Any picture quality, input lag, processing type stuff will be the same or within a percentage point or two. It's largely the same hardware in both.

Thanks for the info. From what Ive seen on here though, brightness is increased on the C1?

Not an issue if I was using it for a monitor but as its a TV in a well lit room and will be used for daytime usage...could that matter?

No doubt it’s been mentioned in this massive thread, but I’m interested in the 48 model, 80% of time used for productivity and 20% gaming. Anyone using this for software dev? How do you find it? Text clear? Easy to read and work with?

Anyone considering swapping this for the new Samsung G9 Neo (appreciate massive price diff). Wonder how the LG 48 compares with working with the G9?
Thanks

Im working from home for the time being and Ive gone from 2 monitors in office to a CX48 at home. Its been immaculate to be honest. Just cant fault it.

Here in the Netherlands the 48C1 is cheaper than the 48CX but as happened to Swiss, the CX's availability is very limited and only 2 stores has them. I rather order from a very reputable store.
But still, I like it if the 48C1 has a lower brightness as my room is dimmed and I don't want a sun-like brightness in front of my face lol

I would have liked if the EU C1 didn't have the ugly white back...

If you look at the image again, I posted you see it's not the inside edge of the panel the OLED TV edge is near the grey shelf above it, when a movie is stream in the original-ratio or letterbox I get the thin white line on the screen, but if the movies is in full screen ratio I don't see it, and I don't see it in any games too.

That looks exactly like contrast enhancing/sharpening filter artefact.
As in player software/its renderer not knowing that's the edge of image and trying to sharpen also that.

When hardware unboxed reviewed the C1 as a pc monitor, they mentioned 2 concerns: the auto dimming is annoying, and burn in.

Thoughts. Can both issues be managed?
Regarding the burn-ins, yes. Switch to different content and avoid static images for hours like writing documents, doing school and home work etc. There are portable monitors for a reason and use that if school and home work and anything that's static for hours. For that, I already got a 13" portable monitor.

And auto dimming, I have no idea for now.

It’s the burn in I’m most concerned about - as software dev I often have same Editor open for hours (so text from menu bar etc will be static), plus tools like Teams and email.

Perhaps OLED not good for my use case?

John Lewis have insurance against burn in on the LG 10th series, which tells me they're quite confident it won't be an issue.
