LG 48CX OLED - 4K 120 Hz

Got it.

So, are you leaving HDR enabled constantly even if the game you are playing doesn't support it?
Leave HDR enabled in windows at all times.
When you enable HDR in game:
TV will switch to HDR automatically and you see HDR in top right by LG HUD.
by default SDR is enabled on unconfirmed content.
If HDR is disabled it will stay in standard definition and no HDR logo is displayed.

Remember as you switching from 2 TV modes you will have 2 picture profiles on tv.

Your standard def picture setting
Your HDR picture setting.

If you play SDR games worth game mode on both modes for better input latency

There's no reason to ever turn off windows HDR option as will only switch to HDR mode when an app requires it or requests it as an option.

on the desktop it wont but in game it will as HDR on the desktop is a application frame that supports HDR

When loading a game that doesn't support HDR it is still enabled as HDR Game. Maybe it's my Windows version as I've been stuck with the May update not being ready for my device.

Edit to add:

I just completed the prologue in Death Stranding 4k with HDR enabled. Just wow, those visuals are tremendous. This feels like a genuine technological upgrade that quickly goes from luxury to essential. I can't wait to see this with 4k@120 with Gsync. :)

It's around 13ms, which is excellent. If you need faster then you wouldn't even remotely be in the market for this. You'd be looking at some 240hz 1080p options instead, and likely be some sort of pro gamer playing CS:GO 24:7.

Just using classification professional reviewers use, such as TFT central. Considering the price I'd class it as high end and bought by serious gamers, thus expect better than the 12-13ms from this panel for the money.

Lag Classification

To help in this section we will also introduce a broader classification system for these results to help categorise each screen as one of the following levels:

  • Class 1) Less than 6.94ns / 1 frame lag at 144Hz - should be fine for gamers, even at high levels

  • Class 2) A lag of 6.94 - 13.88ms / One to two frames at 144Hz - moderate lag but should be fine for many gamers. Caution advised for serious gaming

  • Class 3) A lag of more than 13.88ms / more than 2 frames at 144Hz - Some noticeable lag in daily usage, not suitable for high end gaming

13ms is excellent for a TV. It’s really poor for a monitor, and for gaming, people would balk at that kind of figure on a monitor

I have mine side by side with a BenQ XL2730Z, a very fast TN monitor. With the CX at 120Hz, the CX still feels faster to me. Others have commented that this is likely due to the instant OLED pixel response, despite the added input lag of the TV?

Nice, good to hear. Thats on my list to play. Does it have any NV exclusive features? If so I may hold off until I get a 3000 series card (or big navi, assuming it offers similar features, speed)

overall motion clarity will certainly be impacted by the better response times, as will running it at 120Hz, as will enabling BFI too. lag is still low, I was just making a point really that people saying "13ms is excellent" needs to be taken in context. for a competitive PC gamer it would be way too high for instance.

must resist,
its getting harder everyday i come onto this thread and not buy this tv now, but the sensible side of me is saying wait to i upgrade my 1080ti to the new cards (when they are out) and when the ps5 is released.
i should have more than enough to just see me through to november and maybe see the tv come down in price, but its so tempting !!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, fair enough. Yeah, can't see those competing for awards, tournaments wanting to move from their 24" 240hz screens to a 48" panel! Heck, I believe there are loads of CS players still on their CRT's!

I have one of these on order and it should arrive we me tomorrow, i will let you know if it's any good and if G-sync actually is supported.
This DisplayPort adaptor apparently does 4K@120Hz so you don't have to wait for a HDMI 2.1 graphics card to be released.

I wonder if gsync will still work with it ?

Their catalog claims it does
