LG 48CX OLED - 4K 120 Hz

Ah, fair enough. Yeah, can't see those competing for awards, tournaments wanting to move from their 24" 240hz screens to a 48" panel! Heck, I believe there are loads of CS players still on their CRT's!

Anyone that plays a shooter will be competitive without requiring the validation of being visible at your perceived 'awards and tournaments' level on old twitch shooters like CS.

Those that play tactical shooters or battle royale, where 'time to kill' is low due to high damage, input lag is very important; coupled with high resolution and refresh allowing movement to be more perceptible at distance.

Otherwise what made you buy that BENQ?

Question for owners as I've heard reflections are noticeable:

If sat at approx 90cm - 100cm from a wall mounted LG CX 48" with a backlit gaming mechanical keyboard would you see this keyboard reflected in the TV or is the angle such that it won't be seen?

And when the screen goes black are you faced with your own mugshot a lot as well?

Cheers

Yes you can see your own reflection when the screen is off and i can also see the reflection of my bedroom light in the corner of the screen when it's on.

I think you would see the backlit keyboard reflecting on the screen too.

overall motion clarity will certainly be impacted by the better response times, as will running it at 120Hz, as will enabling BFI too. lag is still low, I was just making a point really that people saying "13ms is excellent" needs to be taken in context. for a competitive PC gamer it would be way too high for instance.

Which is EXACTLY why I said a pro-gamer would be looking at a different monitor lol!

Their catalog claims it does

Well the capable arrived and i could not get G-sync to work with this and also instant game response would no function either ,the only positive is that i could now select 4k @ 120hz with 10bit/12bit colour in RGB.

Guess we need wait for HDMI 2.1 to get it all working together.

Yet another interpretation of 'competitive' means 'pro-gamer. LOL!
Agreed. I expect most people who are somewhat serious in to their gaming might still be put off by the lag. Even though the panel no doubt offers great response times, amazing contrast etc. You don’t have to be an eSports or pro gamer to be put off by that kind of lag figure

I read that OLED LG panels chucks ton of heat from the back over the more standard LCD/LED panels, has anyone else noticed this ?

think it was over on reddit, someone said heat really can damage these LG oleds, and he wished LG put actual heatsinks on them like the Panasonic oleds do.

I did notice some heat coming from my 48CX the other day, but thought nothing much of it as TVs do produce heat. I'll check how warm the rear section gets now that this has been mentioned.

I would assume this is by design and not causing any actual damage?

Aren't the earlier models prone to damage from the electronics, causing a blob on the panel?
OLED degradation is heat related, so may be a good idea to have a fan cooling it.

Do you REALLY think LG design these OLED's to need an additional external fan cooling them? I mean come on... :p

I dunno but some of the ROG monitors have fans on them by design. Depends also if your TV has a very slim bracket making it very close to the wall and/or if the panel is in a deadspace for air movement in the room with no draft to remove the heat, heat could build, but all TV's get warm. These are designed to be purchased in hot countries too so imagine it's a non issue.

Those monitors have cooling due to the G-SYNC HDR module requiring it.

The Panasonic GZ 2000 OLED has a metal back plate to transfer the heat away from the panel so runs cooler than any other OLED, i think LG could have done something like this but it would have meant a higher price to pay.
