LG 48CX OLED - 4K 120 Hz

Can I get your thoughts on a potential set up please?

I'm getting the CX in a few weeks. I'll be using it only for gaming and media content... for all other PC stuff (i.e. web, work, study etc) I'll be using a 27" Dell. I'm just not sure of the best way to set things up. I have a deep (~1m) desk and was thinking of wall mounting the CX, and then getting an ergonomic desktop mount for the Dell, to the left of the TV. That way I could have the 27 incher in portrait mode beside the LG when gaming, but then be able to pull the Dell into position in front of the TV when I need to get my productivity on.

The big problem with this is that any speakers would have to be positioned asymmetrically. I'm not sure I'd even have the space for speakers. Maybe a soundbar would be a better choice? What kind of layout would you go for in this instant?

Why do you need another monitor the CX 48" should be fine for the other pc stuff too, I just use one CX 55" for everything and I don't use soundbar or speakers I just use headphones to block out the noise around me + don't have to listen to the wife this way Lol:D the CX 48 isn't that big so wall mount it and then put the speakers under it or at each end of the TV the TV sound is good enough with good bass unless you like the sound to be much higher when gaming on than go with a soundbar the choice is yours:)

Tempting. My current client has a 30% discount on RRT for employes from LG. I'd prefer a 40'', too bad they start at 48''.
Also worried about PWM, do these TVs have something like a DC dimming option?

If LG made 40inch OLED it wouldn't sale much as the 48-65inch do so it would be a waste of money and glass panel waste to LG

Chaps just to clarify, if one were to order this now and it were to later go on sale (thinking about black friday), am I correct in assuming retailers like JL will refund the price difference as it's now within 28 days?

If you buy it now and it later goes on sale on black Friday deals than No.

We don't expect you to find a lower price at another high street competitor for the same individual product, sold with the same service conditions - but if you can, we'll match the price when you buy, or refund the difference for up to 28 days after you've purchased from us when you make a price match claim. We have shops, call centres and a website giving you flexibility in how and when you buy from us. The level of service we offer can't therefore be equalled by online or mail-order only retailers such as Amazon or Play.com - and it's for this reason we don't match their prices. There are also some fitting and installation service conditions we take into account when we look at a price match - see below for details.

Guys my 3070 is arriving later today and I am downloading the latest firmware 03.11.25 now (it doesn't come up when I try to update from the TV).

Have any of you successfully installed this firmware manually and it's working? Don't want to **** it up.

Cheers

on the TV is Auto - update on, if it doesn't update then you haven't plug in the LAN internet to the TV

So you use headphones plugged into your pc, right? The problem I can imagine happening (i don't have the tv yet) is that anything HDR or DV has to be played through the native app (as opposed to the PC), so when that happens, you have to redirect your sound back though an amp or DAC? Am i correct?

Yes my first headphone is just plugged into PC to only play games, my second headphones is plug in my Hi-fi unit and that is plug into my OLED TV at the back into the headphone socket, when I watch HDR Netflix & Amazon only

Spoke to JL today who said they're ordering 60 more units tomorrow that should appear online in two weeks or so.

Saw some more stock appear today but didn't get the email alert :/

I already have the 27", and there are multiple reasons to use it along side the CX. Headphones will be used the majority of the time, but it's not possible for me to use them all the time.

Agree, having a regular sized monitor along side the 48" is by far the best of both worlds.

They usually take a day or 2 before that email alert is triggered, TVs are in hot demand now that were in lock down planet. I was visiting it morning and then night, because the units just went out of stock within minutes.

The alternative is you can go on JL facebook site and send a DM to a staff member to pre-order LG OLED for you so you get first access to it. It worked for someone else I know but when I tried it got fobbed off and told I couldn't pre-order it oddly, its worth a try perhaps.

If I'm watching via native TV apps then I use Bluetooth headphones paired with the TV.
So this tv has jacks out for head phones? I don't have BT headphones. I only have headsets either with the 3.5mm or the larger size. How is the sound quality coming out of the tv directly? When headphones are plugged in are the speakers muted?

Distill - it's a great little Chrome extension for monitoring these kinds of things.
1. Install Distill
2. Open the website page with Out of Stock marking,
3. Select the 'out of stock' area,
4. Click 'check every 15 mins' or less if you'd prefer.
5. Save
It will open a webpage in the background while you're working away and will send you a chime or an email notification when the text changes. Great little app to let you know something has come back in stock!

The headphone jack at the back of the OLED TV is 3.5mm so you be fine, in the setting menu you have to change the sound mode to headphones/TV/bluetooth/speakers, I have no ideal of the sound coming out of the tv directly because I use my hi-fi unit
