LG 48CX OLED - 4K 120 Hz

According to RTings useful chart here :
https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationship

Us 48CX owners should be sitting 2 metres away from the screen

Slightly off when I said 1.5 metres the sweeter spot, but guess different eyes and taste, can see why they would suggest 2 metres though.
or look at the other chart in that link (around about 0.85m for 48" screen)

Says only 1.25m for a 65" screen
(Goes off to look for a way to fit a 1.25m wide desk in front of his 65" OLED :p )

The RTings chart is surely aimed at the living room / cinema experience though? Desktop use typically favours a greater FOV. We sit 3 m from our 55" TV and that is great for watching telly and films, that's approx. 23 degrees hFOV. Whereas at my desk, I sit 75 cm from a 32" monitor and that occupies a much greater FOV, approx. 50 degrees hFOV.

I don't think the missus would have been too happy with me buying a 77" OLED to hit RTings sweet spot either, 55" was expensive enough! It was a sweet upgrade from a 40" 1080p TV.

Edit,
The angular resolution is an important point for desktop use. Dropping back to 97 cm away from my monitor (1440p) matches the 'cinema' distance and 40 degrees hFOV. The text is still legible at that resolution, which is 64 pixels/degree. If that was 4k resolution (96 pixels/degree), without scaling I'd have a difficult time reading. For the 48" 4k TV, I'd match my current viewing comfort (reading text) at 60 degrees, or 92 cm away, but I'd have the added eye/head movement to view the whole display.

Guess it makes sense for difference viewing purposes (monitor/gaming or movies) and then content thrown in but who has the time to flaff about with all that :) find your own viewing distance sweet spot, your eyes will tell you its too difficult to read or see this or when its happy.

I am currently trying to find a deep desk that is 120-150cms in depth but not finding anything, id guess id have to build it to get that depth the alternative is
adding some ply board at the back and side of my desk just to further extend it outwards that probably would be cheaper and easier not bothered with appearances, 2021 to do list.

got my 48cx yesterday.

sitting 96cm away with the stand, could do 120cm with a monitor arm.

I definitely feel the strain.

Could try tweaking the OLED light to 35 or lower, try Flux or windows built in night mode also you can adjust the slider to a more comfy zone for your eyes.

I feel your strain though, I semi use my 48CX for monitor duties but otherwise its more for my movie/TV viewing more then anything where it excels in.

40 or 43" would have been perfection naturally but then id miss that extra real estate when watching movies so kinda give and take a bit there.
