LG c9 OLED

Would be very interesting if it does cover IR.
they all do, in so much that if you use the tv within the manufacturers guidelines, and it has IR, that would be classified as a manufacturing defect, and you could resort to consumer rights. ... which is basis upon which many folks have made claims.

Ive heard richersounds aren't the best with burn in.
I've asked costco, they said they dont cover it but its a grey area.

I've spoken to currys 'team know how' and they said they cover it.

Hello everyone,

I am currently sitting on a JL price match for the 55 inch LG C9 at £1199. Got a few more days to decide before it expires. My rig is currently a 6700k and 1060 6GB, most likely won't be upgrading until 2020 unless there's something for a stupid price. How are those of you who don't have a 20 or 16 series GPU finding gaming on the C9?

Thanks for reading.

So, I have a 2080ti PC hooked up to a 55" B7 (2017 LG OLED) in my computer room; and a 1080ti PC hooked up to a 65" E9 (2019 LG OLED) in my bedroom. I also have a couple of other OLEDs in the house. It's a given that I like these displays!

If I were to swap the PCs around, I'd get gsync in my bedroom. However, I don't miss it. The 1080ti makes good work of 4K 60 or 1080p 120 on the E9 at sensible settings. Even if you're only getting 40 frames in demanding games, you're still getting a better experience than our console brethren.

I'm looking to upgrade the 55" B7 in the computer room to a 55" C9 in order to try gsync. I'm also hoping that the successor to the 2080ti supports HDMI2.1 (and therefore 4K 120).

Good to know.

I'd 100% go for it at that price. I'm sure it's not a price match you could share? :D

Likely that I will get it. So, sadly can't pass it on (if I'm correct the price match is tied to the email address used to request it).

People worry too damn much about things like Burn in and IR, seriously just enjoy your sets instead of worrying about these things. The newer OLEDs have more than enough to help prevent things like this.

OLED's offer the best compromise for the best in image quality you can get with a TV, if you can even call them that.

As f
I'm pretty certain they don't, would be interesting to get proper confirmation on this.

as far as I know, curry’s don’t. Team know how do. Has lots of people have issues with curry’s, but team know how seem to sort it out.

Agreed. The pricing is great for what you get. When you compare it to the high-end gaming monitor market; one feels that we're really getting ripped-off when it comes to PC hardware. We have to put up with poor contrast; bad backlight bleed; small screen sizes; raised blacks and a number of other image quality flaws. Today's breed of OLED TV laughs in the face of all of those issues and when you take into account their gsync support; instant response times; and low input lag; they're pretty damn competitive when it comes to gaming.

what upgrades do u guys think lg will show in their 10 series of oleds at CES?

as far as i know black frame insertion at 120hz.. not sure how this would be a buying factor.
maybe increase in peak brightness
i'd hope lower cost of 77'' model but i doubt it as their yields seem quite crap.
native gsync support from launch and probably vrr freesync support too
hmmm cant think of anything else. maybe they might make progress on slimming down the bump and probably tack on some crap dolby atmos gimick.
long shot but maybe hdr10+ support? (altho they seem adamant its crap and already basically in the TV).
they will release a smaller panel too. 40 inch i think was rumoured or 49.. either way that will be great for PC monitor games who are scared of the sheer size or what higher PPI w/o going further from the screen.

also hdr10+ vs dolby vision.. sadly i haven't kept an eye on it but i see dolby vision everywhere and i dont see HDR10+. has dolby vision won? tbh i dont really care who wins.. i just want one winner. diverstifying the market in HDR when its already set is just being a pain in the arse despite the good intentions of an open standard. i think even disney went to dolby vision.

No. Nobody officially covers it.

manufacturing defect as i said, eg read up in avforums

what upgrade
- I didn't think BFI is a big success with the comensurate loss of brightness it provokes;
- if you have the processing power then the tv can do whats best (eotf) mapping the source image onto the oled ~1K nits, irrespective of dolby vision/hdr10+, and keep the latency low.
- I'd like to see the HDR/eotf controls more in the users hand's via menus rather than as an expensive calman calibration flow.

I think they're waiting to sell of the b9's before the c9's will drop to £1K ... so new years sales ?

Anyone here use their C9 with a 5700 XT? I’m going to build a new PC in the new year and looking at options.

I've spoken to currys 'team know how' and they said they cover it.

Get it in writing.

Otherwise don't trust them. Cowboys.

Also, I was in the market for a new monitor but with what seems like poor monitor quality control, not very long warranty and ridiculous prices, the LG C9 seems like great value!

Hi all first off Merry Christmas to you all.

Without having to run through all the posts here, could someone breakdown the pros and cons with the LGC9 please?

I walked into my local Currys yesterday but they never had the 55" on display but they had the 65" and looked very Impressive.

Will be upgrading for my current Samsung Mu6400 40".

Thanks

A couple of things I have found annoying with this TV over my older Samsung F8000 (2013 model), after using it for a couple of weeks.

  • The TV guide only loads one screen into the buffer. I like to scroll through the TV guide to check out what to watch and it’s annoying having to wait approx 5 secs for the details to load for every new page (10 channels)
  • Recording programmes. We like to record programmes to a hard drive connected via USB but on this TV you need to be watching the channel you are recording else it stops the recording. Seems the TV only has a single tuner
I’d have expected better from a TV costing more than a 2013 TV with these features.

True mate. I will ask them.

I’m aiming to get the 77incher so I am a bit worried about the burn in issue because it will be a lot of money to risk. I need it to last at least 2-3 years. Then I can pass it on to my parents or sister and buy a new one which will hopefully be bigger.

Curry’s seem to be proper *********.
The teamknowit do seem to be VERY good tho from the experience of forum members. They just pick it up the next day, fix it, and give it back.

I know Costco on the phone told me its a grey area and LG will replace one in the first 12-24 months. Richersounds have been known to say no (I’ve only read one case where they tried to help out). John Lewis I imagine would be a pain in the butt as they were a pain in the butt for me with half my backlight on a TV failed.

In an ideal world, I would love if Amazon sold the TV as they are incredible.
