LG CX (C10) OLED 2020 Thread

Got my CX, all good, PS5 is working perfectly with eARC to my Marantz SR6012.

Weirdly though, I can’t get windows to work with Dolby Atmos. I am running at 4k 120Hz with gsync and HDR, and can get 5.1 to work fine. But as soon as I select Atmos I get no sound, or I get random sounds from random speakers. It’s weird. I’ve given up for now.I’m using certified 2.1 cables, but maybe I will try another brand. I don’t think it’s the cable though, as picture is perfect.

Is passthrough on the tv enabled?

I thought not all of them had been released fr the 2020 model yet, but if so then good.
Exactly - Freeview Play wasn't included in 2020 LGs so it was a commercial thing it seems. Though I've read ITV Hub is on some models so it seems to be moving along. Which is better than nothing, some TV manufacturers don't update much at all after release :)

65cx arrived yesterday and I've already wall mounted it. Not used it much other than a few high quality YouTube reels. Certainly better than my 10 year old 42" LG.

Sound quality is fairly impressive and more than adequate for me. I don't like overly loud and bassy setups anyway and this has more than enough punch.

A good AVR system (or even a really good soundbar) is not overly loud or bassy and sounds a gazillion times better than TV speakers. Just saying.

Sound is as important in it's own way to the overall experience as picture quality. :)

I just think good sound setups are wasted on me. I can appreciate good quality speakers but have found bass at the lowest settings is still too high with a dedicated subwoofer.

I don't see how speakers would be wasted on you when the sound is so vastly superior to the relative crap that comes out of a TV. You don't need a dedicated subwoofer... many bookshelf or stand speakers provide more than enough controlled bass for people who don't want a subwoofer. You don't need to spend 'big money' either, especially buying on the used market. :)

I don't disagree. Just I don't feel a need to get anything better as I'm easily pleased with sound and like I said I don't like too much bass. I realise how this makes most people feel who invest in such an expensive TV :p

I've contemplated a soundbar for asthetic rather than audio reasons :D

I have the exact same approach. I guess if you're just used to always having TV speakers then you don't really think there's a need for a dedicated sound system. And also after you've had one I imagine it's difficult to go back!

I've been tempted by a Sonos Beam, but also mainly for the aesthetic and the smart features more than the actual sound quality.

Freeview play you still have to watch the adverts accessing catchup material ? not sure if google tv may provide an alternative, will android take over.

agree on bass - my parents problem is the poor quality sound/voice mixes that comes out of many bbc productions(as reported), separate speakers help.

Hah fair enough mate but I always try and stress the importane of good sound, so please forgive my pushing the subject a little. A good soundbar would also be an improvement. :)

Whoever ends up serving content, has a prerogative to show you adverts to make money. Just like TV channels. Unless it's a paid service like Netflix or Prime. Just look at YouTube, in 10 years they've gone through several big technological advancements to serve a) more ads, b) more-targeted ads. They even have a policy in place now to decide which videos get ads and when etc

Get the Sonos Arc so that Dolby Atmos can be used :D

Has anyone here a Nvidia Shield connected to their CX OLED?

How is the upscaling compared to the TV's upscaler?

Thinking of buying one to play my DTS master audio rips and NBA league pass.
