LG CX (C10) OLED 2020 Thread

What causes a "stuck" pixel?
No idea :D

Anyhow on another topic - I have pretty much settled on the 55 CX, just waiting for the price to drop back down again in sales before I purchase, but I am now going mad trying to find a suitable new surround system for it. It seems that everything I look at has something missing in my price range!

I need a soundbar with Atmos, a sub and rear speakers for surround sound. It needs to have eARC so I can use TV apps and PS5 and accept both Dolby and DTX. Everything I have seen with these costs a fortune and has a gigantic sound bar that's too big for me. Any suggestions anyone?

With the design, be very careful (unless you are wall mounting) as most centre channel / soundbar's will block some of the screen - the desk stand is minute/ very low indeed.

There is a lot of competition in the soundbar arena in the last year or so but imo they are still very expensive for what you are getting

I ordered my 55 CX today along with the JBL 9.1 (really 5.1.4) soundbar. It has all the features I wanted and I got a decent discount so was happy with that!

now you got a nice setup don't let wife on or you will never get to watch anything:D

I'm tempted to bite the bullet on either the 55" or 48" CX, would prefer the 48" but the price of both is a little more than I wanted to spend.
I've just noticed there is a 55" BX version more in my price range.

Is there much differences between a CX and BX? a7 Gen instead of a9 processor is all I can tell?

I am also worried about burn in as I do leave games paused for long periods at times so wondering if I'd be better sticking with LCD like a Sony KD55XH9, which has HDMi 2.1 but no Gsync I think.

from what I've seen the biggest difference between the BX and CX are screen brightness, SD quality & general TV speed due to the older CPU and fewer HDMI ports.

As for leaving games paused for a long time, I wouldn't do that on an OLED. If you like to pause games it's probably best to turn the TV off when doing this. Shouldn't be too much of an inconvenience.

Nice, review, looks like C10 has improved in some aspects and some bugs will likely be resolved on it. Seems C10 is better at low bit rate stuff while C9 with slightly better brightness HDR content from his summery, wonder why though there has been a drop in HDR brightness, burn in related?

Thanks for the reply

Yes I would be careful in games but I would be using TV primarily as a PC monitor so I would also need to be extra careful of desktop icons and such I'd imagine.
I need to decide is the GSync worth the burn in risk and extra couple of hundred from the LCDs?

Desktop/general PC use is tricky as so much is static and high contrast, including not just icons but taskbar, window buttons, borders, UI etc. I use my TV for PC gaming so it does see static desktop icons etc but generally only inbetween fullscreen games.

That said, take out the burn-in insurance if you're worried. I was always anxious around plasma TVs but I think current OLED are more resistant. Plus the TV auto-dims if the screen is static for too long.

That's a comparison of C9 and CX though isn't it? Rather than BX and CX.

you are right - but the bx and c9 have the same processor -
low bitrate(nowtv, freeview576i) performance are always high up my list of requirements, and I reproach my current Pan 1080Lcd in this respect,
the walking dead being particularly disappointing.

Has anyone had problems with the vrr? I've been reading about the gamma issues and it's kind of now stearing me towards a qled TV instead but would prefer an oled :(

Similar performing possibly but C9 is Gen 2 Alpha9, BX is Gen3 Alpha7 - they're not the same processor afaik?
Not in terms of the actual chip and family - only 2 of the 4 CPU platform families were carried over from 2019 to 2020, and the C9 was one of them into the CX.

I'm very suspicious of LG's commercial CPU naming and I think it's not actually based on what's in the silicon.

Another comment here on bx I'd forgotten about, lack of new AV1 codec support, which (need to look up older thread) I thought netflix already deployed, esp. for mobile,
(from another current thread - don't want software decoding or transcoding on the media server, like with my Panasonic w/o hevc.)

Hi all
I am planning to use an LG CX 77 TV in conjunction with a Sonos Arc for use for PC/PS5 gaming. I am especially keen about the the Arc due to its Dolby Atmos capabilities. However, I am really confused about how it will be connected. I have an Nvidia RTX 3080 on the way for the PC. The way I thought the connections would work is:
1) Connect RTX 3080 to LG CX TV using HDMI 2.1
2) Connect LG CX TV (on another HDMI 2.1 port - these will have eARC by default I guess?) to the Sonos ARC using another HDMI 2.1

Does the above make any sense, or am I getting it wrong? If so, do I need an audio card on the PC at all?
Also, what are the negatives of this setup? For example, I heard that there is some issue with passing stero sound ot the Sonos through LG CX. If this is true, how can I resolve it?

Thanks a bunch in advance!
