LG Flatron 29UM65-P (29") UltraWide Monitor Owners Thread

Got mine today, extremely impressed so far, not check for bleeding or ips glow, what's the best way to test?

run this in a dark room with the brightness cranked up

You can crank it max but your always going to see some ips glow or bleed if you crank it max so its best just to use your normal brightness settings which happen to be 7 on mine lol.

All black screen at night and no other lights turned on. Use this program to check for dead pixels and backlight bleed etc.

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Benchmarks/Dead-Pixel-Tester.shtml

IPS glow will only be visible on black screens and when you move your head around it will vary.

Severe back light bleed will be visible on anything but easier to see on a black screen too.

Set your brightness to a normal setting first though.

Nice! Welcome to the club

And yeah still don't get all the fuss for 4k monitors atm:

- price - majority are TN, a few IPS but they cost an absolute fortune, rather get a top end TV for that sort of price....
- quite a few problems with them
- need at least 2 top end GPUs to run games on high settings at acceptable FPS
- 4k res. is a bit pointless for monitors smaller than 34" imo

BTW snips, maybe get the thread title changed a bit? no need to have the widescreen part repeated twice imo :p

Something like this instead?

Will ask it now mate :)

Ok, its been a few days so i thought i'd post my very amateur opinions on it :p

I was worried to begin with that lots of games i play would not display properly at 2560x1080. So far i've played these games with no issues...

Men of war assault squad
Sniper Elite 3
Kerbal space program
Bioshock infinite
Chivalry : medieval warfare
PvZ Garden warfare

The colours are excellent, no blurring and i have my monitor set to 10 brightness, plenty enough for me. I'd go as far to say that i wish i went super wideboy earlier.

Love it!!!

Added to the OP as owners :D Welcome!!!

Cancel my last, room is still far to bright to get a decent pic, will sort it tonight when it's dark.

My brightness level was maxed out by default at 100, is that bad? can you guys recommend ideal settings for games and movies please?

On my 34 inch my brightness was defaulted at 70 but when I calibrated it went down to 7 lol so yeah 100 would definatly be far too bright really unless you want to burn your eyes out of there sockets :D.
I don't know about this model but generally Cinema mode or movie mode is usually the best and most accurate picture.
Mine had some bleed in both the left and right bottom corner but I unclipped the bezel and its pretty much gone now. I don't know if you can do that with yours though but if it doesn't bother you then id leave it alone.

It has already been changed :p

I did see that - sat there scratching my head briefly :)

100 is high and will no doubt damage your eyes. I'm running mine at 13 and so far so good :)

100% only good for when you want to light the entire room up :p

Between 10-15 is the sweet spot imo, mine is set to 13

Don't bother with manual adjustments for the other stuff, just set the preset to cinema mode, most accurate for colours.

I run mine at quite high brightness :/

Also I think my ram is faulty :'(

Which RAM? And what is your CPU and mobo?

edit:

any overclocks?

iirc with some chipsets, you need to increase the voltage of the RAM a bit higher i.e. for my chipset P55, I needed to up the voltage to 1.65V

Unlucky :(

BTW seen your post in the other lg thread, that lg calibrator won't work with our monitors.

Shame!!!

I've also had a really annoying issue with the brightness profile switching between factory set & my custom settings when watching films. Most annoying and I've emailed LG CS.

Not impressed as my monitor has pretty much no backlight bleed & minimal IPS bleed at 50% brightness :(

Does it happen with different media players? Checked your AMD CCC video settings?

Also, I would deal with ocuk for getting the monitor repaired, LG CS is a joke.
