LG Flatron 29UM65-P (29") UltraWide Monitor Owners Thread

Thx for answer Nexus18

I know about thunderbolt but monitor have Display Port and my MacBook have as well.
But I found on ocuk cable for that. Mini Display Port to Display Port.

If you there is no difference with the monitor with -P or not. I buy it. Most of time I use monitor for work sometimes for games [and for make a games but Indie]

Ah ok. You will need to check and make sure that the monitor displays the image correctly when using a display port cable with the macbook i.e. that it will properly support the aspect ratio & res. without any black borders or stretching in the image.

I had a quick google and couldn't really spot any different info on the two, I think it might be different model numbers depending on the location

I've been playing no more heroes on my ps3 with my monitor, and it looks awesome, it was already set so that the image would fill the screen, and its so awesome :D

I also finally watched the Lego movie on it and after fiddling around a little to display without black bars at the top and bottom, it looked amazing :) (I've also watched blade runner on it, and on my old monitor it looked dark and hazy, but on this one it looks crisp and amazing (again :P ))

My first time with this monitor:
Is great for work and games.
Most of my time I spend with Photoshop, PHP Ide because I'm WebDeveloper and Graphic Designer, Indie Developer. Monitor works great when you use software for 3D graphics and GameDev [many SDK, IDE or example for me Unity or UDK].
I do not have at this moment PS4 but I test it with PS3 - first time is good.
When I find some free time I make some pictures, video and review. So please wait and give me couple of time. I need make more tests etc.

Ekkk no more replacements from here then.

Anyone got contact details for LG for RMA.

Not surprised it has been taken down/discontinuted tbh, pretty much everyone had the back light bleed issue and apparently the 29" monitors in general aren't popular :(

Just go on their site and start a live chat session.

I finally have internet after six days shy of two months without it :D

which means I finally have a proper wallpaper for my monitor (although it's on my laptop because my desktop is giving me problems still :( )

When I have time, I'll show you guys my setup with it :)

My LED lighting arrived today and have to say it does do a decent job. Crappy pics, looks better in "real life". I will probably cut of another few LED's as it is still rather bright!

Definitely gives the perception of an improved contrast ratio.

Gone back to custom settings, finding cinema preset a bit too dark/dull, so

brightness - 10
contrast - 68
gamma 1
warm colour preset

I really recommend getting a cheap white LED strip, as noted above it gives the perception of better blacks/contrast ratio and also makes for easier viewing on the eyes in dimmer/dark conditions + gives a nice floating/3d type of look.

I will need to get this mounted on the wall sometime!

Just been properly testing out the response time settings with this test:

http://www.testufo.com/#test=chase

Definitely notice the difference between high and medium with high being better overall but with a black square and the high setting, there is trailing/ghosting, not too bad but noticeable, however, in real world usage during gaming/watching films, I don't think it would be an issue.

Well there's a depressing end to my monitor saga!

Received this from LG today:

We are writing to you in regards to your LG Monitor, model number 29UM65-P.

We regret to advise you that we have been unable to repair your faulty LG product and as a result of this we have decided to authorise the item to be exchanged or credited at your retailer’s discretion.

We hereby confirm that you are entitled to the above subject to the conditions set out below:

In order to claim the replacement or credit from your retailer, you are required to contact the retailer from whom you purchased the original product and provide them with the following:

1. This letter of authorisation.
2. An accepted proof of purchase – preferably the original receipt.
3. The Faulty Product together with all the relevant original accessories such as remote controls, speakers, shelves and cables etc.

Which makes my choice harder as the monitor appears to be EOL, so I cannot get an identical model :(

Here are my choices based on the value I paid:

1 x Asus SonicMaster MX279H 27" Widescreen Ultra Slim Bezel LED Monitor - Black with Bang & Olufsen ICEpower Speakers £254.99
1 x Dell Studio S2740L 27" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £249.95

Damn! :(

You could get our one from amazon still but it costs a bit more...

All of those ones you listed aren't 21.9 aspect ratio. If you want the exact same spec more or less as the LG, look at the AOC 29" screen (can't link due to site being down/too many connections), just different stand, OSD etc.

When it comes to 27" screens, I would look at this monitor:

Don't consider the DELL one, iirc it has a very high input lag response time.

21.9 isn't stretched, it's just wider :p

Can't find much on that monitor but I am sure it would be pretty good! In fact, can't find much on any of the monitors except for the DELL screen! Good review for the ASUS MX279 here

Personally for that size of a 16.9 monitor, I would want a res. of 2560x1440 at the very least though, I would wait and save some more money up for this screen:

PLS is the same as IPS, just made by Samsung instead of LG.
