LG Flatron 29UM65-P (29") UltraWide Monitor Owners Thread

Its here!

A few images of it on my desk. Also tried to show its colours but pictures don't do it justice.

I am only running it on HDMI atm as my new GTX 970 isn't coming until tomorrow. So have it plugged into a GTS 240... :o

Can't wait to see it running with games. :D

Haven't noticed any light bleed either, which is a bonus.

Very happy with this monitor. Will take a while to get used to it being so wide though!

Very nice! :D

I still think if they changed the res to be 2560*1200, the addition to the height of the monitor would make it perfect. I felt it was lacking in height and was not 100% on it when I had it!

Just picked up an Asus PB278Q and its mint! I love it!

Yeah a vertical res. of 1440 and another 1" of screen on top would have been spot on imo. Surprised they didn't go with a 2560x1440 res. for the cheaper 34" model.

Just bought one of these being delivered tomorrow. Just wondering if I need to get any cables for it? I know it comes with a HDMI but do I need a DVI-D cable for its max potential?

I am going to end up selling my 21:9 LG 29" as my 27" 1440p AOC is due for delivery tomorrow.

Looking forward to the AOC Q2770Pqu as its spec and reviews seem to tick the boxes for my needs. Hopefully it will be a keeper :)

Traitor!!!!!!!!

:p

You not getting on with the 21.9 aspect ratio or something else?

I had a 27" DGM, but it got stolen, and when I bought the 29" LG it has been a great monitor for what it offers. But I never considered it an upgrade to the 27" 16:9 format and I do miss the vertical room.
It is nice to have the ultra widescreen aspect ratio and useful to have two docs or photos open side by side, that I will miss, but having had a 1400p monitor I do miss it more than I imagined I would.
It is great when I game natively supports the 21:9 ratio, without the need for fixes or patches etc.

Heck I even considered the 1600p format as I loved the 16:10 of my Samsung 22" pebble monitor. But there is no strong and affordable contender there.

So I have deliberated with the AOC in and out of my basket for too long and last night decided to just go for it. Not as easy a choice as it was to buy the MSI 970 GTX but maybe I'll be just as happy :)

Maybe I'll sneak this one in under my wife's radar, but I doubt that.

Either way my LG will be up for sale soon.

The AOC does seem to rise above what the others offer at its price point, along with a good warranty and a good etailer, so should work out fine.

Also I must have the worlds smallest computer desk (seriously) and whilst the 27" is really too big (24 seems ideal) the 29 ultra widescreen has forced my speakers to go behind the monitor and it almost overhangs either side..!
I would like a much larger desk set-up but that would only be possible by moving to another room, biggest issue with that is I would end up using the PC less.
A bit of a compromise really.

Ordered mine today but it's not looking like it's coming tomorrow as it's not been shipped for some reason. Paid for Saturday delivery too:(

Hmm, i'm using 3840 x 2160 atm and i'm looking at getting a bigger monitor, but can't justify 4K @ anything over 27".

Ah that will be why, always best to run monitors at their native res. anything else just looks poop! :p

To try and give you an idea on screen real estate, here are two web pages/browsers side by side:
