LG Flatron 29UM65-P (29") UltraWide Monitor Owners Thread

Not too sure what that is, hard to tell from a photo.

Definetly not dead pixels though as they would be black I.e. turned off, perhaps a group of 'stuck' pixels?

Either way, that bleed/glow looks pretty bad IMO.

I would try and get a replacement.

Edit:

Brightness setting?

The pic was taken with brightness at default so full i think.
And the screen bleed in the corners looks ok until i take a photo, so may be wrong cam settings. I will try get some better pic tonight after work.

Ah that will be why then! IMO, anything greater than 15% is FAR too bright, once you knock it down to somewhere around that level, bleed and glow shouldn't be as much of an issue and of course blacks will look a lot better.

And yup, your exposure setting on your camera does look a bit high.

@Nexus18

The 'cinema' mode is pretty much like my calibrated screen, just a bit darker.
The 'photo' mode has a bit too much red saturation.
The 'game' mode has WAY too much blue

Settings are Brightness 16 (Energy saving OFF) / Contrast 70 / Gamma1 / All RGB values at 50 / Colour Temp says Custom and looks a bit warmer than 'warm'.
Have not touched any gfx card settings.

This is 15% brightnes now but camera will not focus properly so best i can get.
Cropped pic.

I think I can live with that, it doesn't show up in movies or games so if I RMA it I could end up with a worse one from what I have read.

Up to you at the end of the day, personally I wouldn't be happy with it. Got any photos of a black screen in a dark room with 15% brightness?

Great, thanks! :)

Will keep to my current settings then, I might up the gamma a touch higher via AMD CCC though....

And yup, exactly my thoughts on those other preset modes, absolutely awful!

Thinking of going for one of these, but probably the 29UB65-P due to the adjustable height on the stand as the other two similar monitors don't seem to have this (correct me if I'm wrong). Is that the only difference between the 3 monitors on OCUK? The stands?

My only concern is that I'll be coming from a BenQ XL2420T. 24" 120Hz monitor.

I don't play competitively or anything like that, but do you think I would notice the drop in refresh rate or be disappointed in it?

I know the LG should look nicer due to it not being a TN monitor.

Thoughts guys as I love the look of these super widescreen monitors.

ALSO! Could someone measure the visable display area? Height and width? I'm curious if they come in with a smaller vertical screen compared to my 24".

thanks in advance!!

Yup, main difference is the stand, the older EB model has a different OSD layout as well as a matte finish on the bottom plastic strip with the LG logo.

Comes down to the person in the end, I would say 120 to 60HZ will be most noticeable in FPS shooters and motion clarity will be a bit worse on the LG but the advantages you get will be......

- the 21.9 AR so more immersive for films + gaming
- much better colours, general image quality, viewing angles

edit:

ah, enjoy! :D
