LG Flatron 29UM65-P (29") UltraWide Monitor Owners Thread

I know it is relatively safe to do but I am still too scared as knowing my luck the monitor will break!

I will let Monkeyspaz5000 and masterOC try it on their monitors first :p

As soon as it gets here , I'll post my results . Abit miffed , ordered befor 3 , no dispatch email or anything :( .., looks like a phone call tomorrow . Ow well , ended up with free delivery ( the B model dosnt come with it ) , due to the missus doing her usual bargaining over the blower so can't complain to much

I had the same issue. Placed an order at about 1pm. It wasn't shipped out that day.

It's happened a few times with me. It's annoying as I get free next day delivery. I would pay to make sure it's sent out!!

I'm counting this as the 3rd time something hasn't been dispatched , I wouldn't mind to be honest and service is great 9/10 times and I order fair amounts on a weekly basis , but it's just annoying when its always my stuff , clients gear is always here pronto .

Back on topic ,

Just use your phone's camera :p

63HZ - No point at all.

i wouldn't say no point :p , the numbers higher , that'll do for the overclocker in me :D moarrrrr is always moarrrrrr haha

this may be daft question but where can I take this to be Calibrated , cba doing it myself , may as well get a proper job done if I'm going to keep it .

Don't know who you can contact to calibrate it, have read about people "renting" calibrators though...

Most people find the cinema preset to be very good and the closest to a proper calibrated display though. Very pleased with the colours using that mode.

The only thing you will then need to change is the brightness. I have been doing a lot of reading tonight on the LG 34um95 and it seems like a brightness between 10 and 20% is actually the best for achieving a high contrast ratio. I was originally using 5% but have now set it to 15%.

Whatever floats your boat and all that :p

Had my shipping confirmation so I'm a happy chappy , now to arrange the ****ing office to accommodate it haha.

I really wouldn't trust my own judgment with getting it right , I'd sooner pay someone who knows what there doing. I could have a bash manually but we will see . Glad to see its nicely factory calibrated , just be nice to see what it's able to do . does anyone know how these compare with Asus ultra wides?

Any idea out of these 3 which is better for gaming?

LG Flatron 29EB53-B 29" WideScreen Super-Wide LED Monitor
LG Flatron 29UB65-P 29" WideScreen Super-Wide LED Monitor
LG Flatron 29UM65-P 29" WideScreen Super-Wide LED Monitor

Cheers :)

Calibrating seems to be pretty easy tbh, doubt you could get it wrong since the software/calibrator does it all for you.

Just try cinema preset mode with a brightness between 10 and 20% and see what you think first.

ASUS 29" monitors are using the same panels so probably very similar, certainly not worth the extra price imo.

They are all using the same panel. The 29EB53 is about a year older though so might not be as good as the 29um65/29ub65 but due to the lack of reviews, no way to be 100% sure :(

True, although rather bizarrely and annoyingly IMO, the 29EB53 has USB and a matte surround... unlike the 29UM65/29UB65, which are NEWER models... a pretty dumb step backwards if you ask me, but likely a cost saving move.

Yup, I long for a matte finish,

I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE..................... GLOSSY PLASTIC!!!!!!!!!!! IT LOOKS HORRIBLE AND CHEAP ON EVERYTHING! TO EVERY MANUFACTURER, STOP USING IT PLEASE!

/rant

Definitely going to try and get some sand paper and get rid of the glossy finish on the stand and bottom strip to give a nice matte finish.

Personally not too bothered about USB slots.

Monitors come..... Wow, This thing is beautiful , makes my old LG IPS look like something out the stone age ... will grab pic soon comparing . Testing for bleed and what not , seems virtually unnoticable . theres a slight glow top left but I really had to look for it and focus.

Color is great and certainly better than the IPS I came from... resolution must make it seem sharper by far.

will have to dig manual out on how to mess about with stand as cant get it to raise or lower... assumed a pin at the bottom did something but noting as cant take it out.
certainly more stable than I was expecting . all round excellent monitor ...

My DVI-D or HDMI cables produced red screen tearing ( they are 20m and corderd atm ) but there one provided does the job.. need to get DP cable so can dual screen with the server !

Overclocked @ 70hz no frame skipping for now see how it goes .. goes upto 76 befor obvious skipping .. 78 enduces some red mad tearing **** across the screen ... 80's a no go

Yeah. That pin needs to come out to adjust the height I think. I carefully got a screwdriver in behind it.

How are you testing for frame skipping or are you just going by looking at it?

Mine had some skipping on anything above 60 using the two test methods I found.

Tbh, I never tried it in game to see if I would notice it or not.
