LG Flatron 29UM65-P (29") UltraWide Monitor Owners Thread

Hmm good idea that, I might create a new thread for 21.9/ultrawide monitors as it does seem rather popular on here now and imo is the future for displays so we need to make more people aware of why it is superior to 16.9/16.10 aspect ratio and as a result get more companies supporting 21.9 format!

hovering over the buy button on this moniter, need convinced........not by much.

1, forgetting the resolution jump will I see a vast difference in quality over my 9year old asus 1680x1050p tn panel.

2, will my 280x cope ok until I can xfire (possibly a few months away)

3, do you think it will go back down in price this week

4, would it be better than the aoc (I can get both delivered for the same price)

5, im not one to return many things, is the light bleed problem still on as many moniters.

thanks

- yes

- yes

- possibly

- both are pretty much the same, personally I didn't go for the aoc because of the crappy stand

- yes it still seems to be a large problem for all of the LG monitors due to the chassis/housing

I run at like 50 - 70 brightness

I've not tried memtest yet, I will once my Internet is up and running :)

50-70?!

Do you want to burn the image into your retinas?

:p

Way too bright that imo unless you are sitting pretty far back from the monitor or in an extremely bright room...

Lucky lol. My first monitor had minimal bleed but I sent it back because of ips glow in the corners. My second one had crazy bleed in 3 corners so I wish id kept the first one. Now expecting my third monitor lol. If you only have ips glow there definatly keepers.

OP Updated :D

On another note, can anyone identify what may be causing this? It appears more on my login screen than anywhere else and there are 5 vertical lines spread out across the monitor appearing as white dots.

I've been using a dual link DVI-D cable and not 100% sure if I saw it, but due to my g/card being under RMA, I'm using a HDMI cable and a HDMI > DVI adapter. I'm hoping this is something to do with the fact I'm not using a g/card, but its not convincing me!

Been messing around with my settings again and changed the following back to default settings

contrast - 70
RGB - custom and all set to 50
