LG Flatron 29UM65-P (29") UltraWide Monitor Owners Thread

What brightness is that set to? If below 50%, not good! Also, what was the exposure of that photo?

As for photos of mine, I posted a pic of all 3 of my monitors in my brief review (see link in sig)

And yes you can RMA it without a doubt, no problems with ocuk, post a thread in the customer service sub forum rather than posting a web note.

Which phone? And to check exact figure of exposure, right click on the photo and go to properties and then details and you should see info. there.

For my photos, exposure is 1/10 (nexus 5)

Is that actually how the screen appears in "real life"? Photos always make the screen look worse than what it really is.

This was my first monitor with a brightness of 100%

Quite a high ISO setting there but still don't think it should make the screen look that bad at 13% brightness....

Does the screen actually look anywhere as bad as that in real life?

Up to you what you do but if it where me and:

- it is easily noticeable during any usage RMA it
- noticeable in dark scenes in films/games, RMA it
- only noticeable on a pitch black screen, keep it

You could always try the fix which works for the 34" model although not 100% sure if you can actually do it with ours....

I can see a wee hairline gap at the sides but no idea if it can pop of as well.

I will let someone else do the bezel bit first. Does not look like it will be easy.

I will have to test it tonight as during the day I have light on my left. Where the bleed is.

TBH it sounds pretty easy, just use a flat thin tool to pop of the plastic :p

Regarding calibration stuff, have to say the cinema preset looks pretty good, probably the most "realistic" looking.

You don't even need to use anything I just used my finger and it makes a world of difference. Is that pic really at 13% brightness on the last page because it looks like how mine looked at 100% bright and also over exposed.
You can check in the 34 inch thread what mine looks like now with normal brightness.
Regarding calibration if your not using a proper calibrator I usually find cinema also looks the best usually.

I've been having issues with the brightness settings when minimizing videos. I've been watching The Blacklist maximised and when minimizing, the settings are like stock - over bright.

It takes 2-3 times of maximising and minimising to change the colours/settings back.

Anyone else had this before?

Strange that snips!

What media player are you using?

Maybe try a factory reset via the OSD settings of the monitor?

Have you got any calibration profiles in windows? (they can activate/deactivate after opening/closing games etc.) this is what mine looks like:

I dont think you will get the bottom bezel off the 29" that easy. Im sure you will damage the plastic.

TBF, the plastic looks cheap and tacky already :p

Ok watching a film I keep looking to the bottom left. Now Im not sure if its because I know its there. But it is lighter (hard to find a film thats dark).

Gaming I cant really tell in watchdogs. Need a darker game.

But I have raised the monitor about 4" off the table, and the centre is more in line with my eye level.

the nolan batman films are quite good as well as gravity.

Game wise, metro 1 and 2.

Sounds to me that it might be IPS glow although if it is very excessive you can still RMA it for that reason. This 3rd one of mine has some on the top left corner but I have recently moved it onto a box so that it is also more in line with my eye level, no issues with the right hand side though.

If it was bad back light bleed you would easily notice even during the day on relatively dark scenes....

I'd probably say star wars episode five has some good colour extremes to look at, as there's the white of hoth and the blackness of space :) I'd also say a darkish movie to watch on it is blade runner, or one of the darkest movies that I've ever seen, avp 2 ;)

As for games , the best that I can think of is probably limbo for blacks :)
