* As small as 42 inches, as large as 97 inches!

* Uses the Alpha 9 Gen 5 chipset.

* C2 and G2 uses LG OLED Evo technology for a 20% boost in brightness

* The G2 is 20% lighter than last years G1 while the C2 weighs a massive 47% less than the C1

* LG has upped the HDMI 2.1 ports of its 2022 OLEDs to 48Gbps again

AV Forums G2 review

Anyone jumping in this year?

Most likely, going to put the C9 in the bedroom and get something larger for the living room.

Exactly the same plans here. Wife has been wanting a TV in the bedroom for awhile so I'm going to wall mount my 65" C9 in there and get a 77" G2 for our 'snug' - Which is basically my home office and gaming room.

If it's not some massive scam (and I've researched heavily) then I should have a 77" G2 coming for far cheaper than RRP.

In case anybody was wondering about the optional stand for the G2 (it only comes with the wall mount), and where to get it, I spoke to Matthew on LG Electronics live chat and this is what he said:

With the G2 optional stand, once you have the product, it is something that can be ordered through ourselves for free under the warranty.

We would need the serial number, model and product code. All on the back of the TV

Have a look on AVS quite a few owners now on there as the Samsung has been available for almost a week now, and it’s blowing everything out of the water, can’t wait to see what the Sony brings (especially with that processing and scaling) I actually have one on order

Owners are biased though. Reviewers don't tend to be.

The lack of Dolby Vision support on Samsung is very disappointing IMO.

(I have a QD-OLED Alienware monitor for my PC)

Yeah expect it's a licensing thing. I wouldn't want to pay extra for it on a PC monitor.

No, it's not really needed on a gaming monitor.

Sony QD-OLED TVs have Dolby Vision, so for movies that would be my preference.

I have an 83" Sony A90J OLED that's soley for movie and TV watching. The 77" LG G2 OLED will be mainly for PC and PS5 gaming.

Vincent Teoh imported one and it seems there are some negatives too it.

Negatives below:

1) peak brightness hits 1600 but only for a short time, and then ramps down to a baseline of 1050. After a while though it struggles to even hit that and drops down as low as 620 nits.

2) You can't disable tone mapping when using HGIG mode, so it's (currently) not great for HDR gaming. This could likely be solved with a firmware update though.

3) Samsung's pixel shifter needs work as it noticeably shifts the picture.

4) Apparently the screen is very reflective.

We have a normal sized living room with 2 alcoves either side of the fireplace that will just fit a 42" TV. I have tried to persuade the missus that we could get a bigger one and just have it stick out a bit but shes having none of it.

Until this year, 42" didn't include OLED but now it does I am contemplating it. My only issue is that the 42" is basically £1100 and I'm not sure if its worth that much for a TV of that size.

We have a budget LG at the moment from a few years ago which is fine but I have a PS5 and I think OLED would really complement it.

Does anyone have one of these in their living room and have any opinion on it? A lot of the views out there seem to be either purely technical or coming from a monitor use case. We just want it as a TV.

Second question is whether a soundbar is a good upgrade to these as well?

Fill the alcoves in to create more space?

Just had the same issue and got some builders in to create a media/extended wall of sorts. Space above the fireplace would only fit a small TV, now I've got a 77" G2 on the wall
