LG OLED 2024 thread - A4, B4, C4, G4

Oh ok, is that all there is to it? I'm not too concerned about that
Sorry, I wasn't very clear. There are other differences too i.e. panels and possibly image processing. Just that it's ALSO a different CPU now which might impact how many years you get where the TV interface and apps perform well.

In previous years the C and G series had the same CPU.

Thanks

I'll go C4..

Though I Snoozed.. so I .. "losed". Out of stock now

Got my 55" B series. Was debating on getting the C as people were saying the B is dark, but I can't see any issue and only cost me £700 so well chuffed.

Upgraded from the CX 48" to the C4 48" and there was a noticeable improvement in brightness. It also doesn't have that annoying long black screen delay when hdr/refresh rate changes. Overall really pleased especially as the C4 only cost me just over £600.

I’m loving my new G4 apart from one thing, it doesn’t seem to play very well with the Sky Q box. Now and again I get very tiny audio glitches like a little pop. Everything else (internal apps, bluray, PS5 is absolutely fine and judging by the amount of posts on the Sky forum, I’m convinced it’s an actually the Sky box that is causing the issue, especially as I plugged the PS5 into the Sky port and it was faultless. As I said, it’s a very tiny glitch and easily ignored, it’s just annoying.

Other than that though, the PQ is unbelievably stunning and it’s very snappy and smart to use. Feels premium. My 4k DV Jaws bluray is just a feast for the eyes (and ears)

2019 Samsung Q85R QLED. The HDR difference is night and day. The Samsung just didn’t have the brightness to get the best out of HDR. It looked very dim on the sky HDR channel, but the LG is bright as a button
Ah okay makes sense coming from an LCD.

Just ordered a 77" B4 OLED. Any thoughts on the TV. Heard it's not as bright as the C4, but should be okay from looking at the Ratings review.

I find Oled too bright anyway, my C9 is crazy bright. For HDR it's far too much. OLED light and contrast at 100, with the options in the menus like peak brightness at max, way too bright. Although I do watch in a darkened room, close the curtains shut the door, and just use bias light.

Wow really? I guess if you're in a dark room that makes sense.
I'll mostly use the TV at night in the man cave so should also be fine but I may use it in the daylight on the weekend.

I got a B4 55" a couple of weeks ago, it's plenty bright. I think the online comments are from people living in the desert watching outside in the mid day sun. I had similar concerns but tbh it's all nonsense.

yeah official oled light and contrast should be set at 100 for HDR but it is stupid. Unless there is a method of calibrating it? Using peak brightness setting changes things, it's not so cut and dry.

I can see the appeal of HDR for example if there is an lightbulb or the sun it appears more real, but I wouldn't want the TV to actually replicate the energy output of our local star in my living room.

Good to hear. Hopefully suits my setup then

Im still swithering.

With BlueLight I can get the 55" G4 for £1333... with a soundbar that seems to sell on ebay for >£350. So thats bringing the TV under £1k technically!

Means the B9 upstairs can be replaced with the CS downstairs then hte CS from downstairs can be replaced by the G4.

Then sell the B9 for a few hundred.

Oft, i might have made my mind up!

That's a really nice price, though if you're already on a 55" and can accommodate (and have the budget for) the 65" I'd say it's well worth it, the increase in size makes a nice difference. Even though my 65G4 is markedly better in every way (except interface, but I've covered that previously) than my old 55B7 I'm not sure I'd appreciate the improvements quite as much if I'd gone for another 55".
