LG OLED 2024 thread - A4, B4, C4, G4

Yup the newer UI is an abomination.
It's pretty clear it was designed with ads/promotions in mind because as soon as you turn all that stuff off, there's just huge amounts of wasted space not being used.

Hopefully a future update adds an equivalent of the old Home bar back again. Credit where due, LG do support their TV range well, my B7 was still getting updates this year (albeit no noticeable changes made).

Returning the 48 B4 I ordered two weeks ago which I paid £548, which Hotukdeals has down to £508.82 now using 20% discounts. Now ordered the 42 C4 instead for £707.22 using the 10% referral and 5% new customer stack. It's a present for my parents so they probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference in picture quality anyway, but it's a better fit in their alcove and replacing an ancient 32 inch lcd.

Just got a 48" C4 for £617 from LG to replace my 48" CX. Paid almost double that for the CX in 2020, couldn't resist the upgrade and new 5 years warranty at that price.

Managed to get a 42C4 for £665 as wanted to downsize from the 48CX.

Debating whether to get a deeper (80cm) desk, TV bench or TV stand (to put behind current desk) to go with it as never quite liked my current setup.

That’s switched on already
With my EE TV Box, it mostly prompts me when i select that input do i want to turn this on...if it doesn't prompt you have the three dots on the remote (below #9) which opens a context menu that has Power On.

This is also how you open the Guide, as annoyingly the Guide on the remote forces the LGTV IPTV guide as opposed the guide for the device you are using. Why that hasn't been resolved via software as of yet i'm not sure and although you can fix i think you need to root/hack the software a bit and don't really want to have any warranty issues.

Yeah, I get the prompt and it’s only a button press, so not too bad. I also managed to get the soundbar switching on with the TV, but even though it starts on ARC, it takes bloody ages for the sound to come through. Just annoying little foibles that didn’t happen with my previous TV

Currently have a 55 LGCX.

It's been a good TV, but I'm becoming tempted to go for a C4. Id likely also jump up to 65" during the process

Is there enough of a difference to make this worth doing. There's nothing wrong with the CX, Just fancy something new/shiny

The difference in size will make a massive difference, otherwise doubt you'll notice much in terms of picture quality etc. If wall mounting then the G4 is a big step up and looks a lot better on the wall.

Anyone noticed YouTube being all stuttering and buffering like mad on anything over 1080 res. It was always perfect for me on 4k fast and responsive... and I'm not sure if an update or something has broken it now.

Running on the C9.

Thanks :)

Id likely not walk mount it anyway. Just unsure if 65 will look silly in our space

A whopping 10% off at JL at the moment :D

Can you get access to a Blue Light Card discount at all?

There are some great deals directly through LG if you have a BLC.

Check out Hot UK Deals for the details.

Amazing tip. We keep forgetting this but my partner is now a teaching assistant and this card has been great. Will have a look.

Here's a fairly recent pic of the space. That's a 55". Not sure if the 65" would dominate a bit?

My bro has a BLC and I keep trying to get him to buy the 55" LG G4 with stand. But he keeps saying he wants the Sony A95L which is over £2k. Whereas the G4 is like £1,699. Would the BLC get any discount on that? I'm not sure how it works as I don't own one lol. Ta
