LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Well I am flying out to Florida on Monday for a month at my parents house and just ordered myself the LG 34UM95 as Newegg just got some stock it would seem.

As the Pound is quite strong right now the total was less then 600 quid!

Just hope for some bad weather so I have an excuse to say inside and play with it ;)

Oh and I won't be taking it home with me, I have a good PC out there (4770k 290x etc) and visit often so it will stay there.

I just received a 34 um65 2560x1080 monitor 2day. I'm not sure I like it. I think I sit to close for that size. Movies are excellent. Gaming is nice width, but i dropped down from 120hz to 60hz. Not that I do hit over 60fps in many games I play :P Altho, I did notice the slight blur from normal windows usage.

The problem I did notice was when I had windows open side by side, I noticed the perspective skew from glancing side to side. I felt like I had to move from side of the screen to the other.

I tried to warn you!

I'm very tempted to send it back under DSR and get the AOC Q2770PQU. I think I might go 27" 1440p @ 60hz, or stay with the tried and tested 27" 1080p 120hz+

I'm guessing that the 27" 2560x1440 will look better @ 16:9 rather than 2560x1080 @ 21:9.

Are you sure? you said your keratoconus ruled the 29" 21:9 out. a 27" 1440p screen would have even smaller pixels. or is it just that the 21:9 is too wide?

That makes no sense after telling me your keratoconus rules the 29" 21:9 out. a 27" 1440p screen would have even smaller pixels.

The thing about the 29" 21:9 screens is the actual screen height is around 23". I've tried a 23" 1080p 16:9 and had problems. If I enlarge the text, icons, then the screen real estate becomes tiny.

At least with a 27" screen, I can enlarge stuff with a bigger physical screen, with space to spare. If that makes sense?

To be honest, after spending some time with the um65. I'm getting used to it. I've got till a week Wednesday DSR period to decide. Left all the stickers on, and packaging intact, just in case.

Just can't beat 1080p movies, its like your own personal cinema.

Monitors are becoming the bane of my life.
I was on a Sammy 23A700D 120HZ 1080p for about 2 years, and had absolutely no problems at all with the monitor, I found everything to be perfect.

I absolutely love 120HZ, the 3D's a nice addition, but I found the colours on this TN panel to be very good really, games like Dirt 2 would always surprise me with just how vibrant they looked.

Then came the 500 quid 4K TN monitors, and I just wanted one. But then I got to thinking, there isn't actually more peripheral on screen, so when I saw this monitor pop up, I was sold, 21:9 and an overall massive resolution.

However, who knows when/where this monitor will pop up in the UK, and for price it's looking like it's 800 quid.

So, I was back to the drawing board, hovering over the buy button on about 8 different monitors, from 27" 2560x1440 monitors, to 30" 2560x1600, to 25" 2560x1080's and then finally some 2560x1080 monitors.

In the end, I took a punt on ; http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-063-AS&groupid=17&catid=1120 as to me personally, it looks the best.

It's coming tomorrow, so lets see how I get on with it.

If I like 21:9, but feel that their really should be "more" to it, I'll DSR it and wait on that LG 3440x1440 one.

If I don't like 21:9, don't know what I'll be doing.

This Samsung will go to my consoles, and my console monitor is going to my brother.

Please let me know what you think of the monitor,

As i have the Samsung SA700 and i was going to purchase the 4K sammy but my order fell through.

Really interested in a 21:9 monitor though.

Bloody hell! for less than £600 that's amazing. You'll have fun bringing it back though!

TV shows are nearly all in 16:9 :p

Yup true though movies is the biggest plus point here and multiple window usage without sacrificing viewing space. On my U2713HM I can use 2 windows at once without losing view space but having a movie window on half the screen with Lightroom on the other and be able to enjoy both on 21:9 does have a certain appeal in my eyes as currently I have a portrait U2412M for browsing and general movie viewing when I'm working in Lightroom on the 27" - It all being on one big screen with the same 1440px vertical resolution sounds great to me!

We have 20% tax but greater consumer protection laws here, so I don't mind paying a little extra for the peace of mind. Still, I don't want to be gouged, either! Come on Dell, get your version out so we have a little competition.

20% + whatever else is a fair chunk for some consumer protection, in the US if you order from sites like newegg you pretty much have the same cover we do anyway. In fact you could probably get yourself some extra protection for a fraction of that 20% + whatever else we pay. It's becoming a joke every year the premium we pay for electronics seems to get higher.

Not sure if I can live with this Asus monitor.
The monitor itself looks absolutely amazing, and 2560x1080 for gaming is an absolute God send.

But I'd rather have a 120HZ TN 2560x1080 panel from Samsung if one existed.

120HZ to me is proving too much to lose so far.

Would you say you are missing the 120HZ for shooters only? (I've never actually played any games on a 120hz screen)

I'm asking as I am VERY VERY keen to get this monitor but I stopped playing fast paced shooter games years ago - I do lots of flight simming these days and will probably get heavily into Star Citizen when it eventually comes out.

Games like Skyrim, Watch Dogs and Witcher 3 also interest me - story driven open world environment games where the extra field of view on this monitor could be really engrossing.
