LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

What are LG's LCD panels like for reliability? This will be my first LG screen since the good old Flatron CRT days. Can't say I've read of many issues in their lineup, tend to read about more Dell issues than any other brand!

No DVI ports so a bit of a bummer there though I can switch to HDMI from the gfx card and as it has 2x HDMI the 2nd will be used by the PS3.

Edit*
Oh I can use Displayport... didn't even realise my GFX card had one :o

if you're ordering from 3rd party seller on amazon.de, you might as well order from reputable German eshop anyway.

I just used a random one (with good reviews) for a quote and it came to under 795GBP including paypal fees and shipping to UK. and it wasn't the cheapest one.

if using amazon.de themselves, then fair enough.

You should use Display port anyway "The display supports 10-bit colour over Display port only."

Not 100% sure but I think you need DP for 60Hz also, HDMI is only 50Hz as far as I know.

Still haven't had one question answered.

From what people are saying, the thunderbolt can only be used for data passthrough and not as a display input/chaining. Anyone know any more on this?

To me it looks like there are two Thunderbolt ports, one to use as input and the other to chain from.

I don't see why it wouldn't work as a display input, it looks like that is one of the features they promote on the LG site.

I have a MBP but no thunderbolt cable, can pick one up and test it if you like?

Ordered from German computeruniverse.net, seemed to be one of the most well regarded for service and speed. Price came to £830 with Paypal tax included (€11). There was a store selling it for less than £800 but upon clicking through the price had gone up to amazon.de levels so looks like that price was missed by a couple of days perhaps.

Should be here in 4-5 days.

I'm hoping the power brick uses a kettle lead and not a Mickey Mouse type as no doubt it will come with an EU 2 pin mains plug. If the latter then I'll have to tea leaf a spare from work :o

Umm it would be great if you could. There is no desperate need though as I will be buying one anyway, its just more of the fact that it would make things easier.

I'm also assuming that the USB3 hub has to be used through the USB3 cable and can't be used when plugged in via thunderbolt.

Any Warranty?

Doesn't mention any warranty details but I've since emailed them asking.

Edit*
According to their website they state:

Rule 4: Cancellation, return, refund, replacement, repairs

We work in conformity with German Civil Code regulation sections 312d, 355, 357 (the former “remote sales act”) which give you the greatest security and comfort with your orders. (further information) Returns are handled immediately after we received them and completed as requested by the customer. Refunds or replacements are therefore made very quickly.

Any failed or defect goods which are subject to the implied warranty statutes and are returned within the 24 months´ warranty period are immediately forwarded to the relevant manufacturer and returned to the customer free of charge following replacement or repair. In case there is a possibility of faster direct return to the manufacturer our service team are looking forward to helping you out with the relevant addresses and procedures.

These rules apply to private consumers. Our business with companies, merchants and public organisations is governed by the Commercial Code.

So looks like you should expect 24 months store warranty but you will just have to send the monitor to them and they'll send it to LG EU and once sorted will ship it back to you free.

Dying to know what this will overclock to. I'm still on the fence about getting this or the ROG swift if the LG will overclock a bit to 75hz at least.

I really want gsync though, so keep trying to be grown up and telling myself to wait 6 months for more options.

Probably a fig 8 lead as the monitor is LED backlit. Could be wrong though.

Both are easy leads to get anyway.
