LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Just been looking at a few uk sites at the UM65 34", all seem to be listing the response time as 14ms on/off, isn't response time usually measured grey/grey, is there a difference as 14ms seems quiet high?

Soooo £800 inc VAT and free delivery a good price? :p

Ooh, from where? Really, I'd say the ideal price is about £750. In line with American prices, + tax.

Edit: If you're talking about the shop Mavit.co.uk, they have the dodgiest return policy I've ever seen in the UK. Restocking fees? Cancellation fees? No thanks.

Came across them by chance and I'm a bit suspect about the place and their stock number is low but I've sent them a message and will call in the morning. If it checks out I'll post up here!

The Germans seem to have had tons of these delivered. Checking Skinflint, there's a whole load of stores that have stock. Still, delivery and the conversion rates + VISA fees don't make them extremely tempting.

Interested to see how that pans out!

If you do order from any suspect place, always use a credit card for section 75.

Also, that sites' cancellation, returns and refunds policy is in direct breach of the Consumer Protection Distance Selling Regulations 2000, under Regulation 17, section 3.55
Return of goods following cancellation (Regulation 17)

Who pays for returning the goods if the consumer cancels
an order?

3.55 If you want the consumer to return the goods and to pay for that return, you must make it clear in the contract and as part of the required written information – see paragraph 3.10. If the consumer then fails to return the goods, or sends them at your expense, you can charge them the direct cost to you of the return, even if you have already refunded the consumer’s money. You are not allowed to make any further charges, such as a restocking charge or an administration charge.

Always know your protection for strange places.

Got a reply back saying delivery will be 3 to 5 days. Thing is they are a b2b outfit and only online based. They have a legit vat and company number too.

Is it worth the punt?! Granted Barclays will get the money back if it goes south...

Well he's apparently already breaking the law, but be my guest!

Damn I don't want the hassle if things do go south as it means waiting for my money to come back then ordering again elsewhere... For the sake of £53 I might as well spend that and get it from a more reputable place I guess. Where are you getting it from rovsters?

Would you say you are missing the 120HZ for shooters only? (I've never actually played any games on a 120hz screen)

I'm asking as I am VERY VERY keen to get this monitor but I stopped playing fast paced shooter games years ago - I do lots of flight simming these days and will probably get heavily into Star Citizen when it eventually comes out.

Games like Skyrim, Watch Dogs and Witcher 3 also interest me - story driven open world environment games where the extra field of view on this monitor could be really engrossing.

I don't really play too many shooters.

I miss 120HZ for desktop, it just feels soooo much nicer than 60HZ.

I don't like that I can't change the aspect ratio in a lot of games, so even though it's 2560x1080, it doesn't look like it should, unlike Dirt 3 which when put to "auto" worked and looked VERY good, easily the most immersive gaming I've experienced.

Netflix is now unusable on some films too.

Take Real Steel, I expected that to work nigh on perfect, spanning correctly (As it has black bars on the top and bottom on 16:9). Oh no... it just black bars all around now, and I can't see a way to change the aspect ratio.

When it works 100% correctly, it's amazing, but so far I've managed that in two of about 10 things tried.
