LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Could be sleep mode settings on your motherboard BIOS? I know different monitors can require different sleep/suspend mode resume settings here and there.

Failing that, try sleeping the screen on another computer as it also could be an ATI thing.

Couple more bad iPhone pictures playing Project CARS, FOV was only on 90 but seemed pretty good for a single screen :)

No 34" for me this weekend, tracking on DHL's site went live a moment ago, it's not yet left Germany!

I think it is a DisplayPort thing, searched google quite a bit looking for answers and just found others with the same kind of problems.

I have set monitor sleep to never and also disabled sleep on the lock screen (how I leave my PC most of the time).

If I know I am going to be away from it for a while I will just turn the screen off.

Please can anyone who currently uses this comment on Windows 7 ClearType text issues as I found on the Asus 21:9 29" model Win 7 cannot properly tune the fonts to look sharp enough. Could be the Asus 21:9 display but I am inclined to think its Win 7 not being designed with 21:9 in mind & unfixable even with the software they give you in the box you have to compromise on font sharpness which for me personally causes eyestrain as it introduces a weird out of focus effect on some web pages when browsing.

No DPI or other setting seems to fix it either on the Asus 21:9 I briefly owned so I had to DSR it at my cost on delivery (£30 down the drain as no fault just unsuitable for me).

Anyone used these? http://www.cyborggaming.com/prod/ambx.htm

Considering getting them for this screen for that extra immersion with the aspect ratio!
Yes, sold them on as they are useless. The light they give out is so low that you can't really have any other light on in the room. So only useable if you game in the dark.

But then the amBX software is truly dreadful. It looks like it was developed for Windows XP and just about works on Windows 7, often crashing. For the few games that have full support, e.g. Deus Ex, the effect is reasonable. But for anything else you just get some dull grey light.

The final straw for me was Skyrim. With the amBX software loaded it would half the frame rate. After four months the company hadn't fixed it or even responded to the issue. At the time this was probably the biggest game of the year which is a big fail for a gaming peripheral.

For £70 I'm happy to check it out and if it is too distracting can sell it on for minimal loss really.

I already have a white LED strip behind my current monitor which is nice but it's static white!

Thats what you want mate you want white around the monitor to increase the percived blacks. It really is an amazing brain trick that is why i would be dubious of AMBX and funny enough i trawled the interweb last night looking for the same things and found out AMBX had awful drivers and has been dead for two years nearly. Just google on the problems it has running with ENB lol.

White USB light into the back of the LG shining onto a brightly painted matte white wall with all other lights off is going to give you a really good experience with the LG because of the nature of the IPS blacks. Try it and be amazed and how grey blacks suddenly become inky whenever they are bordered by bright white.

Oh indeed, the reactive coloured Lightpack ones look like they will be excellent for gaming and movies as projectiles and things flying around will cause offset and predictions behind the monitor which appear to give the sense of a virtual reality or 3D - Maybe that will be cool I don't know yet :p

The LED strip is 6500K and the lighting around my computer is all 6500K LED bulbs as well.

I do like AMBX i saw it on Youtube and i thought it was good. The problem is the glow never matches what is on screen. I have saw it go purple during normal conditions for daylight shooters which is wrong it should be always white unless yellow for sunset or green for forest in farcry. If it never got it wrong i would buy one but the purple hacked me off big time. Give me the fan as well, Yes people will laugh but when you are paragliding in Farcry 3 and it is blowing through your hair and the AMBX is glowing orange from the sunset it would be immense to sit through on 21:9. They also had a pathetic rumble wrist band i would like also as i remember in the day i had a rumble vest for the PS1 which would give chest thuds on being shot. £200 for the 1 light, Fan and rumble vest or cushion and i would take it no problem alongside the LG.

But no one is really innovating in that department anymore i thought about this last night with crowdfunding but who has the technical knowledge here to start something like that or can speak chinese? The same goes for cases and monitors which could carry the AMBX brand with a takeover. The case could be a under monitor ATX case like the raven mini with the front fascia angled upwards and pushing two ambx speed controlled fans to blow wind up at your face. The case when under the monitor would also have an angled AMBX light on the rear which would light the wall behind. You could also maybe rebrand a popular mouse from razer with your ambx brand for a bit of minor force feedback? Something like the Deathadder 2014 AMBX edition.

The problem is no one will do that and i have no contacts or any experience in design to build the case myself. I just know what would work and what i want and who i would want to go too if i could AMD would actually be the ideal people as thier Mantle and Truaudio and Freesync could easily sit beside AMBX as well and a case which would actually make me go from green to red and that is saying something from a lifelong Nvidia fan. Nvidia could never cope with AMD with that sort of gaming experience you have visual (mantle) audio (truaudio) and sensory (AMBX) technology all coming togeather on one brand for titles like Battlefield and Thief. Epic would be the word used here as you have the choice between 21:9 and Eyefinity also.

Haven't noticed any clear type issues on the 29" LGs. I'll have a proper look when I'm back on-site at work on Tuesday. I stare at them all day at work though so I'm pretty sure its not an issue lol

No issue on my dell 29 super wide at all. The smooth yet crisp text against the beautiful pearly whites of this panel was/ is one of the things I like best about the monitor.

I have noticed though that sometimes text on PDF docs and certain websites can be a bit 'off' but I think these are sites that seem to use a larger and chunkier font. Like websites that look optimised for tablet use rather than desktop if that makes sense.

Wallpapers!

I was going to wait until my monitor arrived before posting that but as that could be several more days now thought I'd see what you guys like to use and if you can, post a pic of one of them set as the desktop background

Reports I've read has said that the AG is almost non-existent... don't know what Linus was going on about then. If anything, sounds like DELL's offering will probably have more AG if the LG is even less than the U2713HMs.

To wait or not to wait...

The Dell uses exactly the same panel and hence the matte surface will be exactly the same. Linus isn't always right ya know people. ;)

So you're saying Dell's latest panels have even LESS AG coating than the U2713? Because from what I'm hearing from some people who have the LG, it has almost none at all, even less than their previous Dell monitors.

Having almost no AG would make it near reflective- That's certainly not the case looking at all videos posted of this screen especially from stage lights at the expos where journalists previewed it in droves.

It looks similar to the U2713HM to me which is the first Dell screen I've used or owned with a very fair use of AG coating.

I just dont understand why no one is offering glass and gloss? It looks amazing at night the colors and defninition is incredible without AG and matte. And it is easy to clean as well. Not to mention the increased percieved contrast levels.

This really annoys me greatly and lack of instant revision for DP 1.2a as well. Gief kickstarter someone :|
