LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

I gave up with the Battlefield series after the premium pack train wreck that was BF3. BF had a good run up until BC2 really.

I am hoping it arrives tomorrow, I can post pictures of other games running on it, TF2, Grid 2, GOAT SIMULATOR lol, Crysis perhaps. Waiting for Wolfenstein to be released and also see what Watchdogs is like. I'm sure they will all support 21:9.

Can anyone who actually owns this monitor try overclocking it?

What I mean is, increase the refresh rate and see if you can get it going past 60hz at the full resolution without any frame skipping. Ideally I would be looking for 72hz for 24p movies.

Also, can the screen run at 24fps if you choose such a mode, or 48fps?

50hz of course works for sure.

FOV in BF4 was at 100, need to drop the settings a bit to get the FPS up but it was pretty fun.
Coming from a 120Hz 1080p it was obviously not as smooth as I am used but still very playable.
Going to try some ProjectCARS after dinner, should be good!

What's your rig and what settings did you have to drop it to?

This is my holiday PC in Florida, main bits are Asus Formula, 8GB, 4770K and one 290X.

Settings were all maxed out, it didn't feel smooth so I dropped to the High preset and it was fine, no time to really test it as went out for dinner.

I guess two 290X or two 780Ti would be good for this screen.

Edit: Just remember I haven't tried Mantle yet as I built this PC before it was out and only just back here on Monday.

Will try that later and see how it runs!

Been reading more into the LG True Color Finder software. According to comments on various videos people have had numerous bugs on multiple LG monitors using the LG calibration software. Some say the colours look off, others say the calibration doesn't load at Windows (7) startup until they turn the monitor off then on again.

I've watched a video showing the entire profiling process of one session and it took over 8 minutes to complete... That's a bit OTT in my eyes and reminds me of the old Spyder days where their software took so long you coul go make a tea and have a number 1.

It also doesn't allow you to colourmatch 2 monitors against each other, it looks for supported LG screens when launched so you can't profile non LG monitors by the looks of it.

I'll be sticking with the Lacie software I think as it just works. Good thing you don't need the LG software to get the most out of the 10bit mode.

Roll on tomorrow! (well, today :p).

Windows taskbar on the left or right to maximise desktop height is nice :)

Been playing BF4 campaign (never played it before) and damn it is so nice playing 21:9 regardless if it is a good game or not :p

I don't have a colourimeter here so can't do any calibration, just wondering if anyone who has one can tell me what brightness setting they use to get 120 cd/m2? I am already down to 35 brightness but it still seems a tad high.
Thanks!

I've done this since being forced to go from 16:10 to 16:9. Would have been the first thing I'd have done with a 21:9 too. My preference is on the right, felt more natural.

Good tip, I'll be doing the same as I'm used to 16:10 right now.
