LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Rumours in US are LG is looking at the backlighting issues which are causing the delay which in the US is 30th June for more stock expected.
Someone posted a pic in this thread with massive backlight bleed @ 10% brightness
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1801170&page=78

Not sure if this affects UK as nowhere has the 65 or 95 right now which are new stock not RMAed from the first batch. LG must know where there stock is though

I think the delay must be more about production issues before they produce more stock as its expensive to keep RMAing screens with backlight issues for both the etailers & LG.

Mine is much worse than that. Still waiting on my monitor return.

Just a couple of examples on how bad it can be:

Looks like others have near perfect screens though, so hopefully they have fixed their QA issues now.

That is bad!

Yeah my other photos are taken to reflect how it looks in actual use satin front of it. As I said, the above is taken to accentuate what the camera picks up and at very high iso. To the eyes it seems normal and no different to my previous Dell U2713HM.

I wanted to take the above picture to show it's never going to be 100% perfect but still good enough in actual use to our eyes!

Ah yeah sorry, just re-read your post and seen the ISO setting  (my ISO was 3200)

Agreed. Then again we all have to remember that people with issues are always more vocal and post things than those without.

This monitor was rather prevalent over on r/battlestations and it was only praises there for it.

I've someone buying my old workstation tomorrow hopefully, so unless Apple pull a magic new Thunderbolt matte display out at WWDC tonight, I'm ordering one of these.

My only concern bar possible backlight bleed, is how the aspect ratio will play with Screenflow for doing screen casting recordings.

True that, wish all the other people who order the 29" LG monitors would post about their monitors and if they have bad back light bleed......

I'll keep an eye on it of course! LCD panels shift over time and bleed can grow in time too as casings warm up and cool down. Will report back in time :p

That's pretty terrible, bleed/glow on a totally black screen is one thing but constantly is a joke for such an expensive monitor, hopefully the delay was to do with LG's quality control on this issue.

That has put me off!!!! Gutted for you mate. I have recently been in the same position

Sorry to see the issue hope you get it sorted mate. Thanks for the pics though I knew it was more than 1 person having this issue. Let's see what happens when the 2nd batch arrive in the UK soon.

For the price I expect these screens to be almost perfect so I can wait until they get more in stock @ OCUK as others have them instock now for much more money in UK but not sure they have RMA policies I would be happy with somehow  at least OCUK are better than most in that respect.

Yup I'm sure they will get the issues sorted out and continue to do so for those who get issues down the line as I'm sure some will appear as no product is 100% perfect at all times.

In light of that though, have some more pictures :D

This time TF2 in all it's action glory. Game just looks so good when the heat is on:

And some folks on other threads were mentioning how IPS lag affects their gaming, well I have one thing to say to them, a bad workman always blames his tools :p :D

Well I must admit I'm absolutely loving my 34UM65 and not noticed any backlight problems (but not looked for any either if you get me)

Res ain't as superific as the cool as hell 95 but it means I saved £300 AND I get to turn the AA upto the max ;) :D

(also Robbie, icons seem not to be as over-sized as when you downscaled your 95, look pretty normal)

Not one person (you have posted in this thread and not the 29" one) has posted about their 29" LG monitor (with reference to their screen) in the other thread which announced their availability, after they received it.
I posted after I got mine asking whether they were new or not, due to the condition of it, and noting what others had posted in a different forum after they received theirs, but that particular thread seems to have died. It was just by chance that I peeped here and saw the issues that you have had, and initially thinking that they were related to the 34" screen.!

Hmmmm, could have sworn I posted my pics in one of the other 29" deal threads! :o

Just read that post of yours too and that is bad! Surprised gibbo etc. didn't get back to you about that.

My monitor arrived with a dirty screen and a few marks on it as well (not fingerprints, looked more like it had just come of the production line), had to use screen cleaning kit to get it nice and clean.....

LG phoned me (about five or six phone calls from them altogether) on Sunday about sending me the two missing screws in the post.

They arrived today (five of them) but completely the wrong ones...!!!! grrrr

I still can't attach the monitor to the damn stand and have had it propped up since I bought it from here. Overclockers only offered me to return the monitor and LG seem to be quite useless in being able to sort this one out. LG have told me that they will ring me back in about an hour or so to see if they can source the right screws.
If no luck I suppose that I'll try eBay as I would like to keep the monitor its just that both Overclockers and LG can't seem to help.

FWIW Nexus you might (and me) want to post your issues in the appropriate thread, that might encourage others to post..? :)

I'm glad I cancelled. That would be more than unacceptable on a £100 monitor never mind £840! Fingers crossed Dell do a better job for less money.

If the Dell has hardware LUT and a different AG filter resulting in little to no IPS glow then consider me interested in one but a few things will likely keep me glued to the LG.

1: The OSD control is the best I've ever used.
2: Bezel free bezel (if that makes sense :p).
3: Hardware LUT and software that makes proper use of it.
4: Gaming performance.
5: Rear facing ports, I hate down facing ones.
6: Solid one piece casing whereas Dell casings always start to creak and make noises when pressed after a few weeks.
7: External PSU, no vents so no dust to get in or bugs.

We can pretty much guarantee the Dell will have a better stand, they always do but they also go through many revisions of the same screen and each one has people who have issues from backlight bleed (27" lineup revisions for example) to other things. Thankfully their support is great.

My LG is a good one so at least I know if the Dell is significantly better in spec then I can get good money for it and add the rest as there's no way the Dell will be cheaper than £830 even if it's lesser specced than the LG.

Unlucky that! Surprised ocuk or/and lg can't get you a couple of the right screws sent out.... :o

Yup about to post in that thread now :)

edit:

Just checking the deal thread, I did post in there! I knew I did! :p

^^^^ huh, I'm useless and didn't see that :D
No wonder my monitor looks great by comparison if I missed your post.!

LG have just rang me back up to say that they haven't sourced me any yet - lol..!
