LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Yeah same here, I did ask about a direct swap or loaner as that's what Dell do but she said they don't do swaps like that - Bit of a bummer but at least it's it's going to be gone for a week only.

It's going to be weak going back to non 21:9 for a bit :S

No idea but the lady did keep referring to it as a "TV" lol.

Is it wrong that I'm excited about seeing a flight case so big it can carry the UM95?

Replacement is perfect, huzzah!

Some hi-rez 5D MkII pictures later if I have time.

Although I do seem to be locked out of the colour settings on the monitor. Not sure why that is. Been having a fiddle trying to enable it and not had any luck.

If you're calibrated then the LG software will enable Calibration mode which locks them out. Simply turn it off in the OSD.

The LG lady said it would be going to a repair centre and not LG direct. I assume they will be doing what AWPC mentioned earlier about the panel being adjusted to the casing to stop the bleed.

I wonder what has caused the backlight to suddenly start bleeding like this, perhaps this is why there's a stock shortage as batches are being held by LG as others have hinted above?
Sorry to see this happen to you mate I did wonder how yours was so good to begin with though as I have read so many horror stories where people have complained about backlight bleed which AFAIK is a very simple fix you just need to slightly reposition the bezel or mask the areas which bleed with strong non conductive electrical tape but the high voltages are the danger so its best to let LG repair.

LG must have a QA issue on these the demand is there but not the supply they must be looking at how to cure this its simple enough but expensive for all the shipping if you get a lot of RMA stock so they must be close to shipping these to the retail channels now the stock shortages in US are expected to go away in a few weeks.

The OCUK website has just updated for the 29UM65-P, now showing 10+ in stock, hopefully our pre-orders and/or replacements will be shipped today ;)

It's weird, if it stayed like it was when new then that would be awesome! Guess I'll just have to wait it through.

Damn unlucky mrk :( At least it sounds like you will have it back quickly enough!

Mine has been shipped :D Probably get it on Thursday.

However, after reading about mrk's problem, I am a bit worried now :( Assuming my monitor arrives with no back light bleed etc. but develops this problem a few weeks/months later, I am seeking a refund and getting something else, probably the dell (£100 more but be worth it for their swap, dead pixel etc. service)

Yeah mine's due on Wednesday, but I may end up rescheduling for Thursday because I'm a bit busy tomorrow.

Will see when the delivery slot shows up on DPD's tracker :)

@Nexus18 - Which monitor are you getting shipped after returning your 29"....?

For those using their taskbar vertically is it possible to "swap" the location of the start button and system tray so that it shows the start on the bottom and system tray up at the top end, Windows 8.1....?

Getting it replaced with the same LG monitor.

If this one has problems, I might consider putting the extra towards this:

I am now on my second LG Flatron 29EB53-B 29", after it arrived on Saturday. Hopefully this one will last, best of luck with yours.

I would have been very tempted by the Dell, and their excellent swap out service. I would have just found it a little difficult to have paid that amount over the great pre-order price that the 29" LG was being sold for.

I have high hopes that LG won't let me down :p

At least this will give me good experience with their repair centre. An £830 monitor with 2 years warranty... I need to know that they can do a fine job should something break in that time so perhaps this happening so early on is a good thing.

I had a similar amount of orange glow in the bottom left corner of my 95-P, ended up returning it as LG said the onsite warranty wasn't valid outside of Germany.

Hope the repair goes well.

Yeah, dell is quite a bit more expensive for their monitors but seeing the amount of problems with these lg monitors atm, I think the service you get with Dell would be worth the extra £100.

Lets just hope this batch is perfect!

Valid point that! Would have been nice for have got 3 years warranty tbh as I think most people would keep their monitors for at least 3 years.

Hopefully they sort your problem out for good :)

I don't want to jinx myself but this new monitor will be my third from LG.

The oldest one died last year after 9 years of daily use, while the other is 4.5 years old and still going strong :)

I have had this monitor for a day and am loving it, i have back light bleed in the bottom left however it does not bother me as you cannot see it unless the screen is black. The only problem i am having so far is the 60hz, it is giving me some eye strain and headaches but hopefully I will get used to it. Apart from that it is amazing and am running comfortably with a 780ti.
