Damn bakes0310 that looks awesome! No issues I take it?

The rainforrest reseller has passed their 5 day estimated window to ship my monitor, and not responded to messages. I'll be cancelling tomorrow and asking for a refund, then keeping an eye on OcUK for them to start selling again.
Yep good call cancel that order no-one has stock on these right now OCUK will be the first most likely.

If you go to the LG website the 4 official resellers all say to order or special order no-one actually has any stock unless its been RMAed. I saw last week several places claiming to have these in stock but I think they all take your money upfront then try to source stock & will find out the same result from LG wait a little longer so as OCUK are cheapest you may as well do what I am wait for the stock to actually arrive in the warehouse!

I can take an educated guess LG are most likely doing firmware upgrades & or spot checking the backlight bleed (they can fix that quite easily by taking the back off then readjusting the mask or using masking tape to stop the bleed on the edges) to see if it can be adjusted/corrected on sets which are worse than others that will not take long for a skilled technician to do with the right tools far better they do that before shipping otherwise it will be RMA city ;)

Missed my delivery today! By three minutes. Urgh, I suppose there's always tomorrow as I'm off then.

Coincides with a pair of rads I grabbed from Scan, too.

Doing a large assignment at the moment and really missing the extra screen space.

Well, if LG are witholding stock to fix all the issues encountered thus far (likely given how unexpectedly popular they got) that'll definitely tempt me, knowing that LG is definitely working to fix any issue quickly.

Please to include 1.2a in the next batch? :D

Still nothing from the rain forrest seller, and they've still not responded to my previous message. Ive just submitted my request for cancellation, and a full refund through rain forrest's contact seller system.

Seems they're given 3 days to respond. Ugh, I better not get the ring around now to get my money back.

Good luck getting your refund mate just reverse the credit card if you have to.

I do not agree with everything OCUK do business wise but at least you know if they show its in stock it nearly always is a lot of other etailers show stock when really they have none & try to source it after you order & they have your money which is very naugthy that other site you mentioned is full of those underhand merchants who clearly say they have stock when you know its not true

Exactly, I ordered there because it was slightly cheaper than OcUK at the time and they showed stock. It's clear now they never had. Also charge back through Irish banks is still in the stone age. I need to fill in a ton of forms, attach "proof", and then mail it to their HQ, and it can take up to 30 days to process. :/

After 3 days I'll just get rain forrest on them super quickly, as I'm dealing through their contact system which they arbitrate apparently.

bakes! I'm getting more jelly with each post! Jimmies getting rustled!

I need it!

Realistically, how far off do we think we are before competition for this monitor arrives from the likes of Dell etc?

AOC already announced their's, although no Thunderbolt, no buy for me.

EDIT: Amazon ended up putting the money back in my account. :D
Just ordered from OcUK with DHL Worldwide Express. Now they just need to get the go ahead to ship them. :)

Replacement is perfect, huzzah!

Some hi-rez 5D MkII pictures later if I have time.

Although I do seem to be locked out of the colour settings on the monitor. Not sure why that is. Been having a fiddle trying to enable it and not had any luck.

Just to be an annoying pedant here. AOC didn't actually announce anything. I just stumbled across this marvellous thing called the LV343HUPX on one of AOC's Asian websites and when I asked AOC if it would be coming to Europe they gave me the correct model number and confirmed the features and style are likely going to be the same when it hits in July (hopefully). Although AOC Europe like to change things last minute so there could be some minor tweaks.

I don't think Thunderbolt ports count as a minor tweak. But for PC users the lack of such additions and what will undoubtedly be a much cheaper price are very attractive indeed. Good to have more options and I can't wait to test some of them out. :)

The more options the better as always. Their stand will most likely be much better.

No idea what thunderbolt is but according to the box for my monitor I have it:p

Thunderbolt is wonderful. :)

I'm currently running a hub with USB3.0 drives, and another TB external through a single port. :)

Okay so a bit of an update for your guys!

Since the last picture I posted with the glow exaggerated for the purpose of showing folks where it's strongest I've noticed the actual backlight has started to increase.

At first I thought my calibration was resetting or something but after playing around and checking I realised it was in fact the backlight bleeding through whereas in the first couple of weeks it was perfect.

I wanted to be sure before posting here and last night kept it on all day and recalibrated then took a set of photos which you can see below:

Calibrated_settings.jpg

As you can see, it's vastly different to my photos from when it was still fresh and these photos are just using normal exposures at standard ISOs. You can see my brightness is on 11.

I had a livechat session with an LG person today who showed one of their technicians and they decided that the level of light shown was not acceptable and would repair it.

It's being collected by courier on Thursday who will arrive with his own packaging (a flight case supposedly!) and turnaround is estimated to be 5-7 days. I will have to buy a cheap 24" monitor in the mean time to tide me over I guess.

The LG lady said it would be going to a repair centre and not LG direct. I assume they will be doing what AWPC mentioned earlier about the panel being adjusted to the casing to stop the bleed.

There were no questions asked about the monitor being imported from Germany which was nice to see.

I wonder what has caused the backlight to suddenly start bleeding like this, perhaps this is why there's a stock shortage as batches are being held by LG as others have hinted above?

I'm surprise how quick they were to arrange it to be repaired, some companies might have claimed it's still not an issue. Hopefully they sort you out ASAP.

I also hope the reason the monitor is delayed is for the purpose of getting this issue sorted. Still really looking forward to getting mine.
