LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

You do know that you can talk to that company you have noted....?

I did, as mentioned they confirmed my cancellation, and I've already contacted them again. They seem to take a day or two to respond.

They also can't charge my card as the money went to OcUK and is now empty. I only add it when needed.

The last few photos have been of the 29" LG 2560x1080P panels, both by LG (finguz's photo) and ASUS (zillio's photo)

And yeah we shouldn't really be posting in here since this thread is for the 34" version but it is the most popular thread so easier to get answers :p

It seems like the 34" version also suffers the back light bleed issue as well though :(

I wonder if it might be worth contacting LG direct like MRK has done, to see if they will sort the bleed issues, to save having to RMA and have another sent that might be just as bad?

What do you think?

That is another option that I am considering, however, LG might repair it and only improve it to what they find to be an "acceptable standard" i.e. not completely removing the back light bleed

I'm sure by now they will be more than aware that bleed like the ones posted is not acceptable so something needs to be sorted. They surely would not hold back retailer stock if they weren't considering their options!

Courier phoned me earlier to confirm collection tomorrow. Gonna be using the 29" ultra wide for a few days, will be weird going smaller but hey ho, it is what is is.

Well, I noticed no bleed until I calibrated it using the new colormunki, now it's extremely obvious in any dark scene.

Still, I'm not done calibrating, I'm sure this colormunki is a little off. Everything seems very dark all of a sudden...I have a triple screen setup so I can compare agains the other monitors. The other two calibrated very well but the LG is far too dark, watching Prometheus was difficult as anything not in direct torch light was almost invisible.

Drag it over to the other screens would allow me to see more but not with excess brightness.

Were you not using the LG software to calibrate? You should be already using the LG drivers if you were instead of installing anything from Xrite's disc (not needed).

I've tried the colormunki software thus far, will uninstall (except the driver of course) and try the LG software).

"TrueColorFinder is fail to start"

All options greyed out, I'll have a fiddle and see if I can get it to work.

Nope...removed all trace of colormunki, ran the LG windows software from the disc, keep getting "true color finer is failed to start" after restart following installation.

What's the exact error message? You might have a conflicting system libraries especially if your Windows is an old install.

You may need to add a system and user variable in this bit in Windows:

variable.jpg

The exact highlighted one in both areas.

Basically this is because LG's software uses a library file that's older than the one on the system and Windows will stop an app from loading duplicate libraries when a newer one is already installed on the system. The variable bypasses that and allows older ones to be used by an app. It's a dirty workaround but it solves the problem on some configurations and has no ill side effects.

Thanks for the suggestion, hasn't seemed to have fixed the problem but since I've added the variables I am no re-installing the software.

I take it all your other Windows updates are installed yup?

There were a few outstanding (some .net framework updates as well).

Did not work after the updates but I did not have time to re-install it, being .net that is probably a good idea, will try it when I get home.

Well it arrived! (UM65, not UM95) Had left instructions to leave with my neighbour but nipped home for lunch and just like clockwork the UPS guy pulled up - could be a long lunch now :)

Will post pictures and thoughts tonight hopefully if any one is interested.
