If it gets sorted to my satisfaction then I don't see it as a fail, more of a hurdle and eventual experience for a few reasons:
1) See how LG handle imported monitors.
2) See their stance on what is acceptable and what isn't for backlight bleed.
3) See what their turnaround time is.
4) Try out the 29" and see what that's like while my 34" is being sorted!
It's a bit of faff but ultimately I've not had to spend a penny getting it sent away and their support people seem to be very easy to reach and deal with. The only way it could be bettered was if their technicians were consistent with their verdicts about backlight bleed as some guys above found the techs they had said their bleed was within tolerance... That and a door to door swapout like Dell.
Everything that you write sort of makes sense.
For me I would tend to think how new the monitor is and how much I have paid for it and thus tend to lean towards a replacement rather than a repair.
Whilst a repair does not diminish your rights as a consumer, and pooh happens, I would have expected a replacement from OC.
But then again I would not be in the financial position to spend, nor desire, such a humongous, and lovely, monitor. Never mind to then buy a 29" to use whilst the above is being repaired.
Best wishes for a good outcome
