LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Damn it finguz! :(

Now I am sorely tempted by the ASUS monitor......

Unfortunately the LG flatron 29eb53-p is end of life product so it is unlikely that ocuk is getting any more stock and afaik, the dell is using the high input lag panel.

So there really isn't much choice other than:

- wait a few months till LG sort this monitor out
- go for the AOC (but I really don't like the look of the stand and the build quality issues)

Think I might just give this a try.....

Unlucky mrk :( At least you have the 29" 21.9 aspect ratio monitor, I am back on my boring 23" 16.9 aspect ratio monitor!!! :(

I've made a post about my experience on reddit now, I wonder if Asus plan on releasing a 21:9 of that monitor? That would be interesting :p

I'm now looking at Dell, well, once my refund for the 34UM95 follows through.

ASUS after sales support seems to be just as bad from other posts here which is not going to be improved by the volume of units for sale!

Well my Asus MX299Q has arrived, no bleed, no clouding and no annoying glow. The colours are better and contrast is much better than the 29UM65.

The response feels better too and both myself and my twitch gaming m8 reckon there is no input lag, or if there is he doesn't notice it.

Another m8 is coming over the weekend after next to calibrate it, not that it needs it in my opinion, and I'll make sure to report on it afterwards

Games and movies are awesome, and I would recommend this unreservedly to anyone looking for a 21:9 29 inch display. It's everything I hoped the LG 29UM65 would be and more.

I just hope I don't need to RMA at any point :p

p.s The audio is fairly poor, but still way better than any other monitor I have heard thus far.

Edit: Sorry to hear that mrk, that's really disappointing to say the least.

They use overdrive on max (tracefree60) and a scaler that even out of native res has a max of 7ms. So that is what you are feeling 12ms response and 7ms input lag. Considering the 120hz Eizo im going to order instead has 18ms total u can see you are only 1 out.

So total roughly 1.5 frames which probably improves at 75hz. It seems a fantastic little monitor.

This makes me wonder if LG really are having or had some huge QA issues with the panel. Dell are keeping mum about it probably because the prototype stock they received wasn't up to scratch.

Your experience Mrk is making me feel apprehensive about keeping my unit over the long term if that's how you get treated.

Well I can tell you one thing, the only thing that will make me want to buy an LG monitor again for that kind of money is if in this instance LG turn around and go "ok we messed up, we will learn from this mistake and here's a new 34UM95 on us".

And then I'll probably see a pig flying outside.

I don't have a clue what to do atm :(

dell - high input lag + £100 more
AOC - cheap looking, awful looking stand (sits too far out as well) and read mixed reports on their service...
ASUS - looks great (probably the best 29" one) but TERRIBLE RMA/service and also £100 more
LG - the other one I wanted to try won't come back in stock and I don't really fancy touching the current new series of monitors (the 29um65 that I have already tried), at least not for a few months and even more so after reading about LG's service with mrk's one (plus I also got an absolute joke of a response on my back light bleed from LG)...

Besides, the dell and ASUS will probably be out of stock by the time my monitor gets to ocuk and I get refunded.

*sigh*

Perhaps this is just a sign not to bother with a new monitor :(

Are you on about the 29" Dell?

As long as the 34" Dell has input lag that's no different to the U2713HM I used to have then that will be just fine. All things considered we can fully expect the Dell to use the same panel internals as the LG (else why all the silence through LG's fiasco? :p)
- If that's the case then I'm game.

Yup this one:

It is using the first 21.9 29" aspect ratio panel from LG which was terrible then LG released a new revision a month later with very little input lag, however, I don't think dell is using the new panel :(

Are there light bleed problems with the UM65, there doesn't seem to be that many reports from owners..
UM65 seems to be ok for the money its got acceptable IPS glow but I have not read anyone having other issues with it most UM65 buyers seem really happy.

The issues seem to be with the 34" UM95 & 29" models.

I have news.

It's not good news :|

Ian has gotten back to me with the LG HQ's response and they've confirmed that they definitely cannot get a date on when the part required will come in or if even at all. they have no idea why UK retailers don't have stock and the only option they have offered me is to refund me the carriage cost for shipping the monitor back to computeruniverse in Germany and they will supply a letter for them advising them to refund me because it cannot be repaired under warranty.

No mention of anything else.

A poor show and I've mentioned that because of this kind of "resolution" I will most likely look at other brands in future if this is how LG treats customers in after sales support.

now where is Dell and their monitor, if it has on-board LUT then consider me in. I'll miss the joystick controlled OSD and sleek design but it's the principal of the matter that's important and I'll be updating my review of this where I can to reflect this new experience.
Sorry to hear that mate its shocking customer service from LG I wonder if because you bought from Germany is why they are cold shouldering it though?

As for LG not knowing why no UK stock thats either:

1: They know exactly why no UM95 stock (34" UM65 is in stock @ several places now except here).

2: Too many 16:9 4k Monitor stock not selling so no-one wants to place a UM95 order  as the etailor channels are full of 4k kit!

I really don't think it being bought from Germany matters because the outcome would still be the same. We are within the EU so the 2 year limited warranty still applies all over for us!

I just purchased a UM65. I'm really very happy with it, it's an excellent monitor!
