LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Hmm intersting, I've had loads of Asus stuff but never had to rma so wasn't aware of any of this, but it's certainly food for thought.

Thanks for the link

Yup that is the sole reason I don't buy anything from Asus. Rma with them is a joke, shame as they do make superb products.

I think I am going to just go ahead and get the dell 29" monitor, £100 more but it doesn't seem to suffer back light issues as much and I + my family have always had great service from them.

LG's service looks shocking.

Right another update, I did get a call actually no less than 10 minutes ago, the rep said because of how busy they are during the early hours of the day they have only just had time.

He said he's forwarding everything to the head office who have requested additional details so they can come to a decision on what step to take and I should hear back from them Monday or Tuesday.

I have also mentioned that I have had to buy the 29EB93-P and he's noted that on the forward to LG's head office as well.

The guy I've been dealing with is Ian and kudos to him he's been quite helpful and understanding of my situation. I've also been told that as far as the service centre are aware they have not been told anything by LG directly regarding any potential issues with some batches of the 34UM95 so it does appear they are as much in the dark as the rest of us and LG may be doing something behind closed doors with all this stock being held back for whatever reason.

I'm going to hold off until Tuesday and see what the head office folks come back with.

I suppose slightly delayed progress is better than no progress. At least I'm glad that the UK head office have shown interest in this.

Why would you RMA with Asus, even after the first year? Use your right to use your reseller as a middle man.

Even OcUK states here on the forum that people shouldn't be RMA'ing to them, and should be going to the manufacturer.

If any issues let me know and I will sort. :)

However you guys should realise when it comes to a monitor RMA you should always contact the manufacturer, as monitors generally have on-site warranties so you call them and they will collect/replace the monitor for you. :)

Issue is Asus' so called premium panel warranty is a joke.

I hope something good comes off this for you mate. I do wonder what's going on with all the stock.

With Dell, I can understand going direct, but most manufacturers offer naff CS. You're well within your rights to go straight to your reseller and they'll act as a middle man, with an Asus product for example, you'd be stupid not to.

Cheers!
Having spent ~£1150 on LG in the space of a month alone I'd certainly hope that something good and then some comes off it!

so whats happening with this monitor? OC says overdue again
Elsewhere the 34" UM65 is becoming available in large numbers right now just not on OCUK for some reason

34" UM95 appears to be out of stock everywhere for another 4-6 weeks due to unknown issues which are most likely LG productions/QA issues but no-one knows for sure as LG are obviously not talking which can be taken as a sign they do not wish to comment for obvious reasons :(

obvious reasons being the horrible backlight bleed?

Its hard to say as a lot of people have made no comment on theirs good or bad  OCUK have sold about 30 x 34" UM65 but only 1 person commented on his! Based on mrk experience & a few guys in the US it looks like the backlight bleed on the UM95 is below acceptable levels for an £839.99 display :(

LG are also not winning any friends with their customer service attitude to some. If I paid £839.99 I would expect a no quibbles brand new like for like replacement at my door within a few days as would most people!

Agreed! I never understand companies that do things like that, treating someone well can guarantee return buyers.

Also it seems that stock has surfaced in the States at Fry's and Newegg, as people on Hardforum are posting about it. They seem happy enough.

Haven't been in here for a little while. Sucks that so many are still having issues with theirs.

Image quality wise, my second unit has been perfect but it is definitely buggy and seems to need a firmware update. Even to the point of occasionally turning itself off and back on again.

It's not many though, its three people. The rest are a mix of different 29" users.

I saw on person on Mac Rumors have the same issue as well, although given the massive delay in stock we hope it means they're fixing everything.

Also new stock is surfacing in the USA at the big places.
