LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

I now have a 34" UM65 from Germany (at the 3rd attempt ),

I will post some pics/thoughts later but so far:

Good:
No dead pixels at all. I painted red, green, blue, black, white full screen not a single dead or lazy pixel appeared.

Audio is way better than the Asus 21:9 screens (although I use a high end Altec Lansing THX 2.1 system for audio or headphones).

No backlight bleed I could detect I will look again when its dark but if its there I cannot see it.

IPS glow is minimal & hard to spot but again I will have to view again when its dark later this evening.

Bad:
No UK plug in the box had to rip up the euro plug & convert to UK its 3 wires so just a case of cutting off & rewiring a UK plug.

Size/scale is a lot smaller than I expected coming from a 28" 16:10 its wider obviously but I expected another few inches scale wise (even though I knew the measurements in advance).

Needs propping up another 2" or so its way too low on the stand which is also super flimsy its really cheap plastic hope it does not break!

Shipping sorted for my 34UM95 back to Germany. Cheaper than I thought at £50 which is with the additional cover of £1000 via DPD.

Turns out computeruniverse.net will also refund you any return shipping costs for defective products but I'll let LG pay me back. This kind of makes their "generous gesture" all the more meaningless.

I've included a note for the store saying that they should check their stock and that I'd prefer a refund BUT if the stock they have is new from LG and confirmed backlight bleed free then that is fine also.

Like I mentioned before, I really do like the monitor, I just hate the customer service received from LG so at least if the monitor is replaced with a backlight defect free one that's fresh in stock then I guess I am OK with that as it would mean I can use it for 2 years until warranty expires and either keep it forever more or see what the OLED situation is with monitors.

If I get a refund though I'll bank it and wait for Dell.

If LG have fixed the backlight in new fabrications then it wouldn't matter, they'll be excellent. At least you won't have to deal with LG support if something else breaks.

Just because this thread is so messed up now with other monitors, how many people have the 34UM95 and how many have had to send it back?

How about something like this to copy and paste with your name? I guess you can add the lower models also for more clarity of what is going on in this thread?

Bleeding/Broken 34UM95
mrk

I had a bleeding one, but now have a replacement which looks great but has the odd glitch.

I just want a working 3440x1440 34" of display back

Edit*
So now that LG know the monitor is being sent back for refund/replacement, here's the message I got back from the UK helpdesk just now:

Good Morning

Thank you for your e-mail.

With this unit not being a UK specification model, we are unable to advise you further on your questions. Your warranty is in Germany.

We have passed your previous emails over to our escalations team who are looking into this further for you.

Kind Regards

So a different tune now that it's not their problem any more. I find it odd considering all previous communications had no mention of it being different spec to a UK model.

Shambles of a "support" system.

Beware the rainforrest folks! Some german resellers suddenly have magical stock, and are charging £1000+ for the LG 34UM95.

I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole, as the rainforrest have finally gotten my money back after 3 weeks after dealing with one of those.

EDIT: Especially now after Mrk's experience with the warranty only being valid in Germany apparently.

Ridiculous tbh! Gutted for your mrk. I hope you can get it sorted. £800ish too!!

Yup the fact that LG were happy to take in the monitor for repair and even enquired about sourcing one from a UK retailer when they said they weren't a retailer directly themselves pointed to them being perfectly fine with it being bought in Germany, we are within the EU after all.

Yet now they're saying my warranty was within Germany because this monitor isn't UK spec. The only difference is that the figure 8 power plug has 3 pins instead of 2, does that make it a different spec monitor now? :D

:/

I'll get my money back or a working replacement from computeruniverse, the store seems quite on the ball actually so I imagine it will be a couple of days before they get it and let me know my options. I'd prefer a refund given LG's last email above though like I said, I'll take a new replacement if they have new defect free stock and I'll just not deal with LG directly again and make this my last ever LG purchase.
