Lids off when buying petrol

Which is the same point with regards to fuel and under 16s

That does not get away from the fact that it is illegal for an under 16 to fuel. It just means there is fraud involved too.

I'd be intrigued to see what would happen in court if there was an incident involving an under 16. I don't know that they would wriggle out of that one since the responsibility usually lies with the vendor does it not? Just as with alcohol or cigarettes?

Self service is supposed to be monitored by CCTv as previously stated, as for the cameras not being able to see peoples faces?? lol the cameras we have cost 1500 quid each, i can see how many spots you have on your face, more importantly can see tax discs and if in the shop can see exactly which note you hand over.

sorry thats absolute tosh. the cameras ive seen and used cant even reconize faces let alone spots on there faces. They are only good if you zoom in onto the person in question, but when you are one person opperating 100+ cameras......

crap cameras you've seen then, dont know where you have worked or how long ago it was but we have the latest ip cameras.

I'm sorry, I'm a little confused. Where did the 100+ cameras come into it? Your average fuel station probably has around 8 obviously dependant upon size.

What fraud, if the kid has his parents permission to use the card at will there is no fraud, and the garage still have knowinly sold fuel to a 16 or under year old person.

rolf the police wont even bother looking at cctv for a pump run
and as i said before how many car drivers get cought because you can see their face
errr thats correct none

Bilkings go through the system just as any other crime. Even if the face isn't caught on CCTV the footage is seized, investigated and filed pending ID just the same as anything else. The fake plates (and yes there are some criminals stupid enough to use their own plates) in the area are well circulated county and country wide and the majority are caught via passing patrols and ANPR triggers not through mugshots.

Supermarkets have 100+ cameras, all viewed by the same person. Including the garage cameras. so basically what im saying is its easier to steal from them because its rare for those cameras to even be looked at (but most of us have ANPR cameras).

This is why they are strict on Helmet's, and fuel cans (other thread whining about petrol).

Supermarkets may but the fuel stations dont .. And Anpr is only installed in stations that are plagued by fuel thefts .
Most stations have 2-3 internal cameras and a few outside monitored instore (back office) and a feed also runs to the main store .

I have never been asked to remove my helmet at a supermarket station .. Only at the smaller ones .

we never arm the pumps down here to bikers. But thats partly because we plagued by chavs on mopeds stealing £100 of fuel a week (consider the size of a moped tank before you say thats peanuts ;)).

And there is yer fatal flaw .. Chavs on scooters and bikers..never the twain shall meet.. Im sure you can tell the difference between my 1000cc vtwin and my aged frame in full leathers and some ***** on a shagged scooter in a primark jacket and trainers .

I think the argument is done tbh ...Those non bikers who dont understand and us who know how much hassle it is . At the end of the day i will take my business elsewhere including my car and will advise those i ride with not to visit as there not biker friendly ...

but you cant pick on one group so you have to be strict with all.

Not allowed in the shop either with a helmet...

the way you talk sounds like you are in charge of some kind of missile when in reality you work in a 'shop', bet you annoy a lot of motorists at your garage.

just got into work here, stopped at a garage, filled up and payed with lid on.. then walked into local convinience shop for some food, with lid on... girl in there didn't think i was rude, I'm just another customer.

in fact the only place i won't walk into with lid on is a bank, but thats understandable :)

if I just walked in a shop and someone barked at me 'lid off', I'd probably turn 180 degree's and walk straight out and never come back
