I see average condition EK4s going for well over £2k, and a friend recently sold his dog of a VTI-s for something ridiculous like £3250.

i agree that the 1.4 isn't going to be much fun for motorways, but why do you need more than 120bhp if you're just pootling around?

Nothing is wrong with the 2.0.
Except for the fact there are no 2.0's for sale within budget within 50 miles of here. This is the point half of you seem to miss. All these wonderful cars I'd rather buy, such as Boras, Toledos, high spec Mk3 Mondeos, E46 318's, etc etc..
... are not for sale in Devon. And I am not wasting the last 2 weeks before I give my life up and work full time chasing up and down the M5 looking at crap cars 12 times before eventually finding one that isnt a nail, so it has to be reasonably local
A Bora is a Golf with an arse. Not as desirable but better value, if you can actually find one.

It's bigger, it's a Rover 400 wearing a tracksuit, doesn't look as "cool" or "JDM".
Its a shame for you, but fantastic value for buyers.
